hi all

whats your opinions on redraws?

i only really play the 336 ds at dtd and local festivals in bristol so was looking forward my annual visit to killarney with ladbrokes this weekend.

Day 1 i had the usual minefield of players of very different abilties including 2 real good LAGs sat next to eachother which was fun to watch and play against. i learnt loads and ended the day over average buy more importantly had the table pegged.

Day 2...they redrew the tables.

1st time that happened over there and i have been to all 4 of these festivals.

what is the idea behind this? surely this plays into the hands of weaker players who have not been noticing bet sizing or whether players are playing position only etc...

i know a lot of you guys play bigger stuff than this where maybe redraws can be handy if you get a table full of bracelets but in this case it really hacked me orf.

do you think this is the way it will be now?

this is the EPT and WSOP standard, and has been for at least the last year or so imo.

stuff playing into the hands of weaker players is IMO a good thing, means more weaker players win more often, although whether that is the motivation for this I have no idea.

I imagine it's TV motivated for the EPT's to some extent

It helps to make it harder to cheat. If they keep redrawing things are more random, people who are seated with relatives/backers/friends are split up more often and anyone thinking of organising some cheating has a lot less time to think about it.

I think redraws are a good thing.

well i suppose thats some pretty decent comment from some high quality tourny players.

i realise now i missed some spots at end of day 1 i could of got away with. so my mistake was not finding out beforehand or not listening to TD earlier maybe.

makes a huge difference to the table dynamic at start of day 2 and i felt i kinda messed the thing up? i got a few decent hands in 1st orbit and my image became the excact opposite of usual as i was 3 betting a a few times. its fun that aint it?

i shall keep my eyes peeled and ears open next time.

thank you for your opinions

Galfond says that you shouldn't alter your play to create a certain image, but you should be aware of the image you have based on what you've done so far. It's good advice.
