BBL Nottingham Live Day 1a
$140 buy in

243 runners, no exits. top 90 paid.

blinds 50/100 - 2nd level. Starting stack 15k

Hero stack 19k

Opponent stack 15.5k

Average is 15k

Hero steady away early doors, not lost at showdown.

Opponent is active, often limping. almost always firing at flops.

Opponent raises EP to 375

Hero is the button and 3bets to 1025 with

This is where it gets interesting..

Opponent tosses in 2100 but with no obvious verbal declaration.

As I'm dwelling whether to smooth or 5bet, someone asks why the dealer hasn't done the flop, claiming the guy said call. I ask the dealer what his action is, all the while villain is saying nothing.
the dealer thought it was a raise as he heard no verbal call and we call the floor.

The TD rules that as only a couple of players heard the 'call' and the dealer didn't, it stands as a raise. Villain still hasn't said anything to agree or disagree.
I then 5bet to about 5900, wanting to look like abit of a steal, picking up on his 'mistake', hoping that if he has a hand he shoves but he just flats.

Opponent checks

Hero checks

Turn

Opponent bets 6,000

Hero calls

River

Opponent bets all in, just 4,000

Us?
His hand?

Appreciate any constructive comments to help my game, ty

What range do you think the guy is calling 5900 with pre flop here ?

More to the point what hands is he definitely not going to flat (kk qq jj). As described by op hes stabbing at a lot of flops and limping alot and by point he can have aq ak kt all off which are a) probably stabbing now as described and b) not folding now

Think in a lot of live tourns people are suddenly aware their QQ, JJ may not be good. They can't bring themselves to pass and flat to set mine here.

Ok fair enough but even so with the preflop situation as described this is a bit more unlikely imo, also even if it's true then it will also be true for several other hnads that we have locked up here

Wasnt too sure how long to leave this til i put in the outcome..
i called the all in bet on the river and he showed KK.

In hindsight and thinking of the hard, im only really beating AK and i dont think theres much chance of him betting the turn and shoving the river for value given my obvious strength.
The pot was massive by the river and i agree, i guess my decision was made on the turn. im not passing on the river.

anything i could have done about this hand really?

thanks for comments Smiley

Agree he probs plays AK AQ and KT the same but we have two aces, and if he has these then he has KQ KJ QJ AT plus QQ and JJ some of the time. Stuff like 78s doesn't sound like something described villian would be opening pre so i want to discount random spazzing from his range a lot and assume this flop hit him in the face.

I know it's easy to say now, but i'd have layed 600-1 he doesnt have KT at the time

we're thinking he calls 59big blinds preflop with noantes wih KT? or even wants to call the initial 3bet?

he has KK 91%, QQ 6% AK 3% and yes i did just completely make these numbers up Tongue
