The Curtain Rises on the GUKPT Grand Final…

The GUKPT is set to round off the 2011 Tour with a special extended Grand Final festival, held at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino from Monday 21st November until Sunday 4th December.  Two full weeks of live tournament action will be hosted by the capital’s premier poker venue, its spacious 24 hour card room being the traditional final GUKPT host of the year.

The £2,500 Main Event features a 25,000 starting stack and hour clock.  Last year’s Grand Final Champion, Leon Bui, won a huge £144,905 after three days of play against some of the country’s top tournament players, and this year’s field looks set to match 2010 in terms of the fierce competition at the felt both for the £2,500 finale and the larger buy-in side events unique to this leg.

Last-minute chances to qualify live at the venue abound, starting with Monday evening’s 10 Seats Guaranteed satellite, and continuing with the 2-day £600 + £75 Freezeout Super Satellite on Saturday afternoon.  £350 + £35 Freezout Super Satellites also run on Wednesday and Thursday (1st December) so if you have not locked up a seat on grosvenorcasinos.com’s virtual felt then there are plenty of opportunities to come to enter the GUKPT’s heftiest tournament of the year.

Some places said an event and some sad a satellite. I asked a few people at the Vic and connected to the tour and obviously nobody knew.

I am now assured by the only person there who knows anything, (Ms Jen Mason), that this is a £600 tournament and not a satellite.

Jeff and I had a bet on whether he could get 64 players to the heads-up and now he seems to have postponed it.

Just received a text from the Vic confirming it's a two day comp and NOT a satty.
