Inevitable once the fans turned

Has had ages, and cash, team is underperforming

Correct decision

Think some of his signings have been dire.

Martin O'Neill will be favourite to take over no doubt.  He'd probably be interested if the board gave him the same level of backing as they did Bruce.

as a newcastle fan, I'm distraught to find out that sunderland have discovered that Agent Bruce was a mole, planted 2 and a half years ago to bring about sunderland's demise.

throughout that time, Steve has performed with honesty, integrity and with a steely determination to bring about our collective goal.

I'm devastated to see him leave today. It means we'll have to implant Agent Shearer earlier than expected...

Did you see the state of him when he was interviewed after the match at the weekend? I was genuinely worried for him he was so stressed he looked like he was going to explode. No doubt he's a manager who cares and is not there just for the money, but the results were lacking. Take a rest Brucie and try again somewhere else after a break. gg.

The bookies always seem to stick MoN in @ 1/2 every time there's a premiership vacancy.

Can't see it myself but I did grab some 5.3 Mark Hughes as that seems like a good match to me.

if he had a decent striker he would have got more results and not got sacked. They sold or let his best players go.

Was just thinking that. I bet Gyan isn't on Bruce's Xmas card list.

Bruce is the master of his own downfall imo. He's always been overall weak in the transfer market and previous chairmen have commented on this. He should have established strikers after such a relatively long spell at the club. Admittedly it was a challenge when he lost Bent but you must have decent depth to do well in the prem as a manager. He didn't have it because he's been signing loan players in that position and permanent players with much less commitment to the club than he has. I can't imagine Gyan was desperate to play for sunderland really nor Bendtner. He got messed about by Amir Zaki at Wigan as well so it follows him around. I think he had a genius moment at Blues where he signed Dugarry and he's been sold on maverick players ever since. I think he finally got a good fit with Connor Wickham but sadly too late. Pretty convinced MON will get the job cos he's been showing up on telly which always signifies itchy feet and i believe he's a sunderland fan.

Zaki returned to Egyptian Premier League side Zamalek for the 2009–10 season. During the summer transfer window, he turned down a move to English Premier League club Portsmouth, who had been strongly linked with the player. This is largely criticized in the English press because his refusal was due to the presence of two Algerians and an Israeli on the team. Zaki said "after Portsmouth signed an Israeli player and also hired an Israeli football director a possible move was ruled out. On top of that, no way could I play at Portsmouth with an Algerian within in their ranks."[16] During his time at El Zamalek he struggled with injuries, sickness, the lack of scoring goals, and a spot on the team.
