is a poker journalist with approaching 5,000 posts on blonde

Formerly the editor of UK Poker News, now News Editor at Poker Strategy

Barry "Dave Shoelace" Carter

I think we all have enormous respect for Barry. Look around the forum, he's on a number of threads as ready to contribute on Fry Ups, Sheffield football and TV shows to poker threads.

Of course this year he was also the co-author of

not that any of you will have heard that already.

The thread about the book is here

http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=52878.0

and I know its been of enormous help to a number of blondes.

I could talk about achievements on the felt, but I think his only achievement I can recall is getting wrecked at Sky Poker Tour Leeds, where he donked his way to the final, and donked his way off the final as quickly as he got there. Lets not forget his SPT Main Event min cash either.

He can write about poker though. Over about six years for his sites and magazines article upon article of top stuff

Here are a few recent ones

A top man, and a real asset posting on blonde away from the day job....

At works Xmas party told him I would have him in my 25, I was pissed and obv speaking bs...

Nah just joking, fantastic writer, great guy, perfect balance of expert opinion + good humor.

Great addition and one who I suspect many probably didn't have shortlisted.

been a fan of barry's writing for a long time and when the head of editorial at PS told me he was joining the team I was really really happy to have him on board. 'Jonas, you fucking genius' was the phrase I used iirc.

even though i'm no longer part of team PS i read all barry's stuff and met him recently in gib where he bust the poker tournament in about 4 hands and then crushed blackjack whilst having an intern tell him what to do (like double 11 vs a 3, take a card on 13 vs an 8, etc)

really nice guy.

i have interacted with mr shoelace a little this year. What a thoroughly nice chap.

I mean he has his faults, he is from sheffield, he has the most tilting avatar on blonde (pretty sure he did it to up book sales), but he is a throughly brilliant fella.

As for writing about poker, i think he needs to write a little more, i mean what does he do all day?

and twitter, dont get me started on his twitter! :0) - im sure there is no need  for me to say follow, as you probably already do - but just follow!

Great work Barry, hope the new role is keeping you stimulated!

Genuinely chuffed to bits about this. As Pleno can confirm I didn't think I would get in, because so far everyone on it has either achieved something, is good at poker, or is well liked.

I love Blondepoker, even if I didn't play ever again or stopped working in the industry, I would come on here every day because I have met some great people and there are some amazing threads.

Also, he will never put himself on here himself, but Tighty is the unsung hero of blonde and also one maybe one of the unsung heroes of the UK poker scene as a whole.

So co-authoring a great poker book isn't an achievement?  idiot

Hugely deserved.  Well done Barry!

Surprised you don't consider yourself well liked. Awesome writer and a great contributor to so many threads.

Congrats
