world cups back then produced some amazing games and socrates certainly played his part, a true great

one piece of brazilian commentary has been stuck in my head since the first time I heard it

Me and my brother used to play football in the back garden and when we scored we used to mimic that commentary. 

Socrates was a legend.  A majestic player, with a great beard.

Captained my all time favourite Brasilian team! I remember the playground buzzing with the names of Zico, Eder, Junior and ofcourse the wonderfully named Socrates. A great loss! (and yes, we were all doing the one-step pen after that goal...Class!)

I knew how you felt mate, i played for Long Eaton Utd at Garfoth a week before that game so i missed out on meeting the great man too , i think that Carecca the Brazil foward was joining aswell
