Considering the money is paid out at the end someone watching your holecards in the first 5 mins is alot less bad then someone playing out the end of a donkie.
having said that if you know the rules you know you are breaking them.

First it's ethics, then it's ethic, pretty soon it becomes ethi, and then before you know where you are it's eth.
Where do you draw the line?

...or even if you don't know the rules. Ignorance is not an excuse, only mitigation.

I thought i posted but it must not have been submitted.
If you take the stance that the rule is a rule and it should not be broken then the circumstance of when it was broken becomes irrelevant, be it at the beginning, middle or end of a tournament.
Obv personally I see the rule as pretty much unenforceable, if i got caught then fair dos i take my punishment accordingly. Just like to point out it is not something i do as standard just a few times in the past when i have been unable to keep my eyes open after a long grind. would i do it in the future, almost certainly. I personally can't see the harm in it really under the circumstances mentioned, the fact it is a rule is not enough for me to personally follow it, i have to see some logic or common sense behind a certain rule. Unfortunately for my career in the forces i stood by this way of thinking quite firmly.

in cash it's completely not on.
in tournaments it might be ok if you've had a power cut and phone a friend to log in whilst you drive to his place or something.

I guesssssss that the NL1k reg in question (think I know who it is), is grinding for SNE and needs a lotttt of points.
