'Could' is too ambiguous rich. What SHOULD happen?
Agree with tikay's sentiment. As long as I don't think the guy is cheating then I'm never ever even gonna mention the card going off the table or asking for his hand to be dead.

Ah, I've just seen that Paul says he tried to show his hand!
Tricky spot this, and I'm with tikay. It happened to me this year, (slightly different as the guy tried to muck his hand 3 times and the dealer gave it back to him).
If cards off table is a dead hand, then I'm happy it's declared dead. He wouldn't do it again, and that is often the best way to learn.
What would be the ruling if he threw his cards face up into the muck? I think that is a comparable!
If his hand is live here we obv need to count and check deck I'd suggest?

Depends on House Rules.
Common Sense should prevail, if the card that flew off was easily identified then it should play, but if it came off the table under the table (where a card could possibly be switched etc) then dead.

Face up into the muck, the cards have been tabled (badly) and are live.

Saw a similar spot (though in a Tourney at the weekend), involving Glenda, who lost his entire stack when the other cards fell off the Table, & Glenn never even considered appealing.
Guess it depends how badly you wanna win.

Did he ask to chop it?

It's not a case of asking for the hand to be killed, it's more a case of the rules state if a card leaves the table, then the hand is dead.

Very much ^^^ this, but it usually means before the hand has finished, otherwise a dead hand in this spot should result in the previous bet being returned. Could be used as a stroke.
On reflection, As this is an all-in situation, hand should be live unless the card goes out of view.

Which it normally does if it leaves the table.
Anyway, hand should be killed purely because he has had a hissy fit. What is the matter with these people?

Was the card face up in flight, or an attempted face down muck?

Fair point.
Not sure what I like least - the brain deads who throw hissy fits, or those who are so desperate to win a hand they try to claim it on a technicality.
