He will know I'm never 3 betting too light here, he will also know that I know he knows that.
Why are you never 3bing a LAG light here?
If you're having trouble pulling the trigger on attacking his opens for fear of him shoving over the top, then this should be a double fist pump call as you crush a loose 4b range.
If you think his 4b range is nutted and he's folding the vast majority of his open range here then you're turning QQ into a bluff by 3bing and should be flatting pre - or much more preferably hop into a time machine, go back a few orbits and start attacking his opens fairly wide so when he shoves on your 3b and you're holding QQ you can celebrate appropriately.
+1 to pretty much everything said here and to other comments.
I've tried 3 betting and a variety of options against this player in the past, frankly, he's had the best of it :-) May have led to the desire to just have a double check with a bunch of people I respect on here.
I was raising to induce and I called pretty quickly (but with a slight inner sigh rather than fist pump), as mentioned I'm calling here just about all the time.
Can't do the time machine thing in this tourn as had moved and seen about 3 hands dealt but I know the player pretty well.
I think his 4b range doesn't have to be nutted but it's gonna be pairs, AK against me I think.
My wondering was only inspired by the fact that he knows I'm very likely to call it off once I've 3 bet, which might suggest fairly nutted hands as you put it - it's not based on the outcome.
I haven't played a million hands on line so I think, now and then, you just want to check your alignment. Bizarrely, these very 'standard' spots probably cause me more thinking and I think thats due to the lack of a long term as such if you primarily play live.
Moreover, re-visiting really basic assumptions is pretty much the root of all learning
