Why would anyone play the american wheels if they did?

Monte Carlo used to, I doubt they do still.

Apparently there are a few in Vegas and they only open them if they are busy

Yup just googled

http://www.vegasmadeeasy.com/gaming/roulette

absolutely certain the pit boss would open it if you told them you wanted to put a few k on 1 spin

Not sure they would for just 1 spin, but I'm not gonna argue if you know different.

Maybe split the money 5 ways and put separate bets on 3, 26, 0, 32 and 15?

Huh?

All I did was look at that link Woodsey posted and chose the room with the best odds, $100 minimum bet and a European table...

ETA: Actually, forget that. Went to the Wizard of Vegas and Venetian don't have Euro tables any more. Cosmo do, though.

Can someone answer my question regarding min bets?

I played no roulette last year, thinking it might be a bit more this year.

Kinda assumed that colours would be available at $2 not $100?

You can make the colour whatever denomination you want, they just slip a $500 or whatever denomination chip you choose into the slot for your colour.

I don't remember where I played but when I got to Vegas I snap went and played roulette for same reason, never normally play house games but it's Vegas ldo, I don't remember where I played, think it was MGM, but I sat with $50 and was betting $1 a number, ballin' outta control in Vegas.

I am exceptionally disappointed in a lot of you.  Call yourself degens!  You clearly haven't spent enough time degen'ing in Vegas.
