Anyone stayed here? Good, bad? Really good deal on with Travelzoo.

Tired rooms with fading decor and threadbare carpets etc.

Well-positioned centre-strip location but Tom and I moved out after two nights there and relocated to The Nugget downtown.

This was three or four years ago so it's possible that some much needed refurbishment has taken place.

Make sure you get the North Tower.

A classic example of 2 people staying there with different results (one prolly stayed in the South Tower, one in the North) ~ altho some people want different attributes from a room than others too.

North Tower rooms are (I think) larger and more recently updated.

Pros are:  Great central location, fairly cheap
Cons are:  A dated hotel offering worse value for money than some of the alternatives available.

I stayed there 8 year ago n last year room was fine very solid comfortable bed clean it is a bit " tired" but in good position on strip good pool n sun area the steak house did a great meal we had steak tartar n prawn starter chateaubriand n a fillet steak champagne n dessert 3 of us for 275$ and the 80$ sunday brunch is superb
The aria is a lot smarter as is Wynn but costs more and you r only there to sleep n shower really you don't spend time in the room
I would stay there again

£41 a night and a free buffet pass for breakfast, lunch,or dinner at 3 different places, think Paris is one of them.

Yeah North Tower is ok as others have said.  No resort fee as well (can be $20 a night), but they charge you for the safe (which put me on tilt) and internet.

Stayed there with Longy last year.

Was fine, but nothing to write home about. Decent location.

Pretty much this (apart from the Longy bit Smiley )

It's not hard to get a free upgrade to the North Tower so the newer rooms shouldn't be a problem - but having said that you get better views from the South tower, so you don't lose much either way.

There are probably very mediocre rooms in both towers but that's true with all the cheaper hotel options (and probably most of the more expensive ones as well)

For illustration this was the room I had (it's dark because it was night time when I took it btw - it didn't look dingy)

When are you going ?
Are you going as a tourist ? Or to play poker ?
If u r going in June the best tourneys with most chips n best structure is at golden nugget n binions but that's a 25$ cab ride or 3/4 hr on the 2/7 bus
From ballys
Best thing is the location centre strip bus stop outside front n monorail out back
Having stayed at a few of em here Excalibur bellagio planet Hollywood aria If I go in June I'm also gonna try the golden nugget
Things are a bit mire expensive centre strip eg 1 wine n 2 coronas 19$ planet hollywood downtown same drinks 9$ almost all of the buffets are great value and I havnt had a bad one yet

As James said it is nothing special but is more than adequate if you aren't trying to do vegas in style.

If you do stay book the cheapest room and then use the $20 trick at check in. A little research when I stayed in the summer indicated that the $20 trick has a very high % chance of working there. We got put on the diamond level in the north tower and the room was fine.

That's what I got upgraded to - didn't need the $20 I just asked nicely, but demand would be pretty low when I went; in a busier time of year it might need the 'tip'
