This may get a mention on Poker425 this week, but after the european rankings awards ceremony at the Avitaion Club in Paris had finished, I was taking some of the equipment back to the hotel when Dave Compton rang me to tell me there was a €100 S&G being organised & was I interested. "Be there in a couple of minutes" was my reply. When I sat down this was the line up:

Seat 1 - Marc Goodwin
Seat 2 - Dave Compton
Seat 3 - Mickey Wernick
Seat 4 - Surinder Sunar
Seat 5 - Charlotte (David Hood's girlfriend playing her FIRST EVER live game!)
Seat 6 - David Hood (William Hill's PRO)
Seat 7 - John Gale
Seat 8 - ME
Seat 9 - Julian Thew
Seat 10 - Dave Colclough

I was in absolute awe - apart from the 4 unknowns that's the sort of line-up that you'd expect in a top TV event!!! Could it be only in poker that some of the top players in country (if not the world) are prepared to sit down with amateurs like myself & play a €100 S&G? The game was played in a fantastic spirit, with lots of heckling for any raise/call/bluff etc & I think everyone enjoyed it.
I was lucky enough to come 3rd and when it was just myself, Mickey & Surinder left I had John Gale on my right & Dave Colclough on my left giving me little snippets of advice, how good is that?
So a big thank you to the guys from myself, Compo, Hoody & Charlotte for taking the time out to play a little poker with us.
