This is pretty comical.

I have been comparing different pre race (8 minutes before start time up to the off) betting shows on different platforms and came up with the best and worst as far as speed of updates.

Best: Racing Post app for ipad/phone at cost of £0.00

Worst: s.i.s. FACTS service at a cost of £12805 per annum.

Sometimes there was a delay in betting shops of 45 seconds.

if you can find a bookie thats 45 secs behind then you've got something.

SiS doesn't matter for anything.

Five furlong sprints should be a piece of cake.

are you saying you can get track price updates potentially 45 secs before they hit betting shop screens?

Friend of mine once went to southern Ireland for family funeral. Went into local bookies which was basically a wooden shack in the  middle of nowhere. Telephones me all excited that the bookie pays out on teletext results.
This place was literally just a hut with the daily runners on the wall and a tv set up in his office for the results.
Being as teletext had a short delay in printing out the race start 'off time' you were able to get a bet on after the off by as much as 30sec. So short sprint races were ideal for betting on something that had run for the most part of the race.
It was all very comical really , someone on the telephone in Ireland waiting for the info from the uk for a horse that was cantering in a five/ six furlong sprint that i thought would finish in the first 1/2/3. Then he had to quickly get the bet written out and on with the bookie.
Of course we still had to get it right but we defo had an ' edge ' .

Anyway we had a couple short priced favs come home sweetly but didn't put much on so as not to draw attention . Then the bubble well and truly burst .
There was a 16/1 shot and it won cosily then a 33/1 place. Bookie wouldn't pay out on the 33/1 and my mate had to quickly get himself back to the uk for fear of having his ' legs broke ' by some rather nasty pals of the bookie.
There's and old saying that came to mind ' cheats never prosper'

although the bankers & politicians  hav'nt done too bad at it  the last 15years or so
