ive downloaded the software on laptop and the app on i pad ....what next?

Can't remember but basically on lappy point VLC to your movies and think there's an option to copy to iPad. Very easy if I remember correctly.

Maybe use dropbox to move files from laptop to ipad?

Thats how i have got files onto my ipad in the past.

You have to via iTunes..click on apps..down the bottom you should see the app click add and choose from where u films are stored

Probably too late now but I use playable pro £1.99 I think from the app store to view my downloaded films etc as it handles the files like avi that then ipad doesn't on its own....you simply drop the films into it on your laptop whilst your ipad is connected.
