Did anyone look up and see the Moon halo tonight?

I didn't get any pictures of it myself but it looked like this:

Why does it happen you ask?

Great going Christie, the first one especially is amazing.

Dunno about you Lee, but I get stung every time I claim, my premiums just jump up big time.

I reckon you could get a starter DSLR for just over a hundred now, Canon EOS or suchlike.

Nice one Machka, always did wonder. Also, why does it appear so large when it's low in the sky?

It's just an illusion!

The Moon illusion is an optical illusion in which the Moon appears larger near the horizon than it does while higher up in the sky. This optical illusion also occurs with the sun and star constellations. It has been known since ancient times, and recorded by numerous different cultures. The explanation of this illusion is still debated.

My main reason for visiting was these old cranes, unused for many years now which have always been special to me. I took shelter for a couple of nights in the middle one a few years back.

Nice work Geo.

Are those cranes redundant now?
