That's an amazing view Woodsey. I've probably missed a post or two along the way, but where is it?

Its in the Cordillera mountains in the Northern Philippines. If you google Ifugao Rice Terraces you'll see pics better than I could ever take

The blonde update camera is a Canon EOS 400D Digital with a Tamron AF18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 XR lens.
Unfortunately, the lens is broken. (I warned Rich about photographing Vinny but he wouldn't listen).
Anyhoo... We need a replacement lens. I'm no expert, but I'm not sure we need as much as 200mm zoom for card room photography.
I don't know where the money is coming from, (We'll probably have to hold tikay upside down and shake him) so we're keen to keep the cost down as much as possible.
So over to you guys. We would be grateful for any suggestions, advice, links to suitable models etc.

Thanks Tom.
I'm sure the camera geeks here take it as a given, but worth mentioning that most of the photography it is used for is in Cardrooms, many of which have poor lighting, & flash photography is not always permitted.

You probably have the 200mm zoom as it's one of the cheapest you can get unfortunatley. I have a Sigma 24-70mm zoom which is a great lens and would be ideal but it's quite pricey. Canon do an excellent 50mm prime lens for about £50 on Amazon which is huge value for money but you'd probably want some zoom for poker, or at least get moving around the tables a bit more! Maybe the Sigma 18-125 would be a good idea, it's about £250. Or get another 50-200mm zoom for cheaper (about £130).
Saying that, you could get a half decent point and shoot for that sort of money if it's only for poker images to be used on the web.

Those are for Sony fit cameras (4/3's?) You'd need a Canon fit one.

FAST. That's what you need. Its horrendous trying to photograph in a dark cardroom with no flash. You can always zoom by cropping. You need something with a low F number.
I've got a Tamron 17-50 F2.8 (constant) Canon fit that would be very handy - cost me <£200 second hand, new ones are about £280ish, they come up reasonably regularly on TP or ebay. Lovely lovely people lens. Full stop between f2.8 and f4, and another one between that and f5.6. Which means full zoom on the Tamron requires 1/4 the shutter speed of most of those suggested.

The Stars bird at the UKIPT had a 70-200 f2.8 (>£900), on a full frame body (5D). So about 40-125 on a crop camera. I think better to have something wider, personally. She probably changed lenses for venue shots, but you don't really want to have to do that.
