Groupon are offering a Canon 550D (not the newest model, but close) at £495 including both the 18-55mm lens and a 75-300mm
Looks a decent price compared to most places I can see (camera with just the 18-55mm lens is £495 in some places)

What kind of pictures do we post in here? Anything specific? No. Nothing specific, although we do sometimes have a monthly 'theme'. We usually post our own snaps, but feel free to post any image that moves you. (No pics of me though please). |

First attempt at focus stacking, a series of 8 photo's combined in Photoshop to make one. I didn't see the black bit at it's mouth until I was processing them, it grew each shot I took. | Click to see full-size image. |

Yeah I quite like it for macro shots, just need a subject that won't move at all during the process, that's the hardest bit. Hopefully I'll get to do some more over the weekend.

I did an Introduction to DSLR Photograpy course at Kirkstall Abbey yesterday (purchased via a Groupon deal). Basically, a course to explain the features and controls of an SLR camera and basically get people off of the auto/preset options. Learnt absolutely tonnes about the camera, and got to do lots of experimenting at using the features to get the camera to do what you wanted it to do. Really useful stuff (although probably second nature to many on this thread). Attached a few examples of the type of thing - experimenting with shallow and wide depths of field, and switching the point of focus of the shot.
