Wikipedia have a photography competition if anyone is interested http://www.wikilovesmonuments.org.uk/Basically it's so they can get a load of free photo's for their database but if you don't mind sharing your photo's on a commons license then I think it could be a helpful contribution if any of your pictures get used to illustrate an article; there are a few prizes - but there will be a LOT of entries. It's for photo's of Grade I and Grade II* listed buildings (or their equivalent in Scotland and NI) I was looking for older photo's to submit when I came across these. Which are nothing to do with that competition but I'd forgotten I'd taken them. | Click to see full-size image. |

Yes, that's the 'other' Staten Island Ferry, that's where I got the shot from. I went across and back on it at sunset, so sunset photo's on the way out and dusk/night time photo's on the way back. Pretty much perfect timing, although for photography there is a huge problem with the ferries engine's, the ferry physically shakes massively when the engine's are on - so focussing the camera is pretty tricky. |
