Hey folks looking for a little help please.

I am at my girlfriends place just now and I am trying to hook the laptop up to the LCD tv in the bedroom so we can watch some episodes of Breaking Bad.

The TV in question is new, just purchased at Christmas and has sky connected to one of the hdmi ports and I have tried to connect the laptop to the other.  When the laptop starts up the start-up screen shows on the TV but as soon as it goes to desktop I have a message on tv screen saying no signal.

In my own house I normally just stick the hdmi cable from laptop into back of the television and it works without any problem on this one though its not happening I have tried googling and I am coming up with nothing that makes sense to me.

I'd appreciate it if someone could provide me with some pointers.

Television is a Bush and laptop is an Acer and I am running windows 7.

On my tv you have to use the remote control "source" button to toggle through all the sources until you identify the connection that corresponds with the port you are wiring up to - not sure if that helps.

What happens when you've fully loaded windows?

You got it to extend the desktop - instructions here: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/organization/twomonitors.aspx

You need to extend the 'desktop' - which is what Windows calls your screen where all your icons are.  Follow that link and extend the desktop on the laptop to the second screen (the TV).

My laptop screenis black on start up and the "windows starting" comes up on tv when it starts and moves to desktop screen that shows on the laptop but i am still getting blue screen on the tv saying no signal.

This is a total ball ache.
