«
on:
March 16, 2012, 09:58:38 PM »
Can anybody who has played alot of tournaments let me know about MTT brm as I really have no idea and heard lots of different opinions. Thinking about different amount of runners vs buy ins vs roll etc.

Depends on how much risk of ruin your willing to take and the amount of tables being played at once etc but heres my brief take...
1) Does not exist... There are non turbo $4.50's and $2.50 turbo 180's... For 180 man turbos ideally you want 600+ buyins but you can prolly start out with 400 or so if you play your optimum number of tables. 500 bi dowswings are semi common though... Non turbos, doubt you can get any real volume in but I guess 200 - 300 should be ok there...
2) Probably about $1500 but depending on amount of shots and RoR etc $2K would be better (side note, for rebuys I usually use a 6 unit rule for determining abi. The 2x turbos I use a 7 unit rule and 3x turbos I use a 10 unit rule)
3) Again depends on RoR, overall abi and lower/midstakes volume but somewhere between $20k - $30
4) $15k - $20k
4b) $20K - $30K
All the MTT figures can swing by a reasonable amount depending on wether the volume is at the higher end of bi range or lower end. Sundays are also a special beast when determining brm as afs and abi's tend to be alot higher then as well which can skew even normally good brm into shit.

$30k maybe for taking a shot. nowhere near enough to be rolled for sundays

Yeah agree with that...
It really does depend on what type of sunday schedules your wanting to play though... If its your normal stuff plus a 2 or 3 $215's its fine but if your wanting to play all the 215 majors across stars and eurosites and 100r's and 500's etc your looking at a huge BR probably closer to $150K

1) I'd be really aggressive with my bankroll in these, probably 100 buyins so around $450-$500. There are a ton of low stake mtt-sng style tournaments that run all the time on stars (like 3/45s or 6/45s too) so it's really easy to adjust stakes quickly and move up/down as you see fit. Probably best trying to zoom through this level as I would assume hourly would be better in the bigger games
2) Fields are huge for these, I'd probably be happy with a 500 buy-in rule just because variance is ridic in 1k+ fields. $10k should be comfortable. You can of course use a 200 buyin rule or something just be prepared for lots of adjusting the games you want to play as your roll fluctuates (or get backed and dont have to worry about that)
3) $60k minimum for me but I'm a br nit. If you're good enough to beat mid/high stake mtts you're probably wasting your hourly by grinding too much lower and ms/hs mtts are known for their big swongs
4) you can probably get away with $20k, but if you want to play majors on the weekend you either need to be satelitting in or being prepared to easily lose 25% of your roll in one night fairly easily. The majors are great as they are highbuyin and comparatively very soft to the rest of the week-day hs mtt schedule. But, they get a lot of runners and the payout structure in them all is often really really top heavy. You're really going to have to be crushing all week at low/mid-stakes to make the weekly shots pay off (this of course depends on how many majors you play, flicking it in for the milli/warmup/kickoff is probably fine, but you can easily play $5k+ of majors a week)
GL in whichever games u decide to play!

thanks for replies. Not directly for me but people ask for staking for mtts and always said no as ive never known the variance exactly and nevr been confident enough to handle the big swongs.
Just one more..
5) wants to play 54s, 108s, 20rs, 109s, 20 cubed etc, but also playing alot of hu sngs and normal sngs plus satalites?

Oi, you've got your own account! Cheeky bugger. Can't blame you for being jelly of the avatar though
+1 to what fenix said though, he's been playing mid/high stakes across loads of euro sites for a while, probs one of the most qualified people on the subject imo.
