AQ and AJ in the SB
«

Recently I've noticed a situation that has come up a few times that has me confused.
Sitting with AQ or AJ in the SB (talking cash here, but also applies to tournaments), and there has been a raise and a call(s), or a raise and a re-raise. If the raiser is a loose player, I know my AQ can often be ahead of his range. But the problem is that I'm OOP after the flop and unless I hit I'm going to be check-folding a lot of the time, so do I want to be re-raising him pre when he's likely to call?
Instead I often end up playing these passively, but I think I'm missing out here.
What sort of approach could/should I be taking with these hands in the SB? We're talking low-stakes, live cash games here primarily.

In low stakes cash games, AJ and AQ don't play well in 3b pots.
There are no Mitch Johnson's 3-betting the living shit out of every 2 cards that get dealt to him. The players who 3bet generally have it so I think folding AJ/AQ seems right most of the time.
Hard to answer a question so generally though.

There are enough Mitch-wannabes in the .50/1 and 1/2 games though who are raising with a wide range though, and plenty calling with far worse.
