I normally just keep mum when asked this question and stare at the flop or a bit of felt if there is no flop.

What do people think about this? In my experience players that ask this question are folding 90% of the time anyway. Last Sunday in my local £100 fo a decentish reg asked me this when I had 4 bet all in fairly early with AA and I insta said yes to his inquiry hoping to get a call. He tank folded and I just tossed em into the muck.

Now he starts going on about verbals being binding etc. and I am laughing explaining that it's only actions that are binding.

Am I out of order?

What is the correct response to the question with either a very strong holding or a marginal holding?

Any opinions welcome.

Saying yes and then mucking is the nut option imo.

Well played.

IMO, saying you'll show them makes them MORE likely to fold. Most people are on level 1.

I usually put it back in their court by saying. "Will you fold if I say yes?"

+1 with this. I said no once to get a caller when I had KK. He called with Q10 and got there Sad

I sometimes tell them that if they fold I'll flip a coin and if they call it right they can see them.

Let the poker Gods decide.

Usually though I'll say no if I want a call or yes if I don't.

Cheers Mr Dawg

That's perfect. I find all the speech stuff a bit macho tbh. And he was a decent player so not level 1 imo. But my mucking really pissed him off for some reason. I don't know why as I have played with him for 4 years and never shown a hand yet so why he thought I would then is somewhat strange.

I love the wise old owls on here.

Regards
