Does anyone know the maths behind how hand match ups are worked out.

We mostly all know that AQ aipf against QQ is 30/70, with 3 immediate outs available, AK aipf against JJ is 45/55 with 6 immediate outs available and JJ against QQ is 20/80 with 2 immediate outs available. This doesn't make sense to me and if anyone knows the long and boring way these are worked out from a viewpoint of say a 9 handed table where 18 cards are dealt, it would be of much help.

One other thing and the main practical use i would have for knowing the aforementioned knowledge is say you have 3 other players in a pot with you and you have AK in the big blind there could be a good chance that of your 6 immediate outs, 2 of them are locked up in the hands of these other players. With that knowledge and if you were to re raise all in behind them but got called by the underpair 1010 one of them had, could you argue having your percentage in this match up at 45/55 is way too favourable. Seeing as an A or K is very likely to have been folded at least once. The want to know the maths in the second paragraph of this is so that i can work out the strength of AK as 1 or 2 A or K is folded already, with you having decent knowledge that this is probably the case.

Would AK vs 1010 with one K folded now be 40 per cent and with one A and one K folded now be 35 per cent?

Ant.

Go to www.propokertools.com

they have a calculator which is good, but theen you should download odds oracle as its the nuts!

the system they use to calculate this is they take each hand, run XXXXXXXXboards out and record the results, theese calculators are capable of doing millions of simulations in a minute or two.

Also, like Andy says, there is no way you can say preflop, he's defo folded an ace unless you have ridic hero reads, so really dont worry about it
