I'm sure with your skills you'd be able to hook up with some old boys that make a bit of moonshine on the side Wink

Saint Petersburg is quite a place

http://www.saint-petersburg.com/virtual-tour/

or one of my team have just come back from cycling in Morocco, looks amazing

http://www.exodus.co.uk/activities-experiences/cycling/destination/morocco?

Yeah would be interested in St Petersburg ty, been to Moscow but no further than that.  Smiley

St Petersburg is much closer to home, less flight time, cheaper and the best City I have ever visited, anywhere, bar none.

JFDI, you won't regret it.
Can confirm St. Petersburg beats the hell out of Hull and Donny and most of the hotels are already booked up in Scunny at that time of year. ( plus you've already been here Wink )

I was due to do this in 2003. I was meant to head down from Gibraltar through North Africa and down the West Coast of Africa into Cameroon. Had to bin it at the last moment to go somewhere hot, sandy and work related instead grrr

Try:

http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/index.jspa

You got childboards for expiremental travel, travel companions (I ditched mine somewhere in Georgia cus she was irritating me!)...in fcat just seen now theres all sorts there that might inspire you...

August might be a bit problematic for me mate. On the one hand I might be screwed by divorce and on the other I may well be prepping to go back to the Ghan. Would love to though - and if I do go to the Ghan, you know where I'll be headed for my post tour leave Cheesy

Ok mate keep me me informed of potential dates  thumbs up

Ty for the other stuff.

Cheers Fran, skints me out though  Cheesy  After my sister died at 46 I just thought I'm not gonna be one of those people that saves all their lives only to drop dead a year after retiring, not having done a massive amount in their lives. Live each and every day to the fullest imo.........  Smiley
