13 Events Unveiled as Part of WPT National and Regional Series
Culminating its largest and most successful season ever with the upcoming WPT World Championship at Bellagio, World Poker Tour is proud to announce an expanded international schedule for WPT Season XI in 2012. Through its new schedule, WPT is continuing its mission to provide players with access to world-class poker in new venues and territories across the globe.
“World Poker Tour is committed to extending its global reach,” said Steve Heller, WPT CEO. “Not only will Season XI feature new stops in the US and abroad, but World Poker Tour is also widely expanding our Regional and National Series to deliver the WPT experience to as many players and fans as possible.”
Players seeking to have their names etched onto the coveted WPT Champions Cup can begin their 2012 campaign for poker immortality and begin earning points toward WPT Player of the Year honors at Season XI’s first event, WPT Merit Cyprus Classic (August 4 – 9) before travelling to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the inaugural WPT Parx Open Poker Classic (August 10 – 15), featuring a televised final table and a re-entry option on Day 1B.
Of course, WPT Season XI will also return to charter casinos for celebrated historic tournaments. The prestigious Legends of Poker brings WPT back to Los Angeles’ Bicycle Casino for the 11th consecutive year (August 24 – 29) before the tour heads to the glamorous Grand Prix de Paris in the famed Aviation Club de France for the season’s first televised international event (September 10 – 15). This year, the Grand Prix de Paris offers players a re-entry option, as will every 2012 WPT Season XI Main Event outside of the Five Diamond World Poker Classic (December 17 – 22).
Building on its reputation as a true, global tour, WPT will provide players on both sides of the Atlantic the opportunity to play in events starting on the same day. In Europe, players can attend WPT Malta at the luxurious Casino at Portomaso (September 16 – 20), while players who prefer the US can head to Atlantic City to compete in the Borgata Poker Open (September 16 – 21), which, in Season X, attracted the largest field in WPT history.
November features the return to Florida and one of Season X’s most popular venues, bestbet Jacksonville. This beautiful, 70-table poker facility plays host to the Jacksonville bestbet Fall Series (November 9 – 13). New venues host the tour’s next two stops, with the inaugural WPT Copenhagen in Denmark (November 12 – 17) and WPT Mazagan at the Mazagan Casino in Morocco (November 26 – December 1).
The tour makes one last international stop in 2012 at the historic Corinthia Hotel for WPT Prague in the Czech Republic (December 3 – 9) before the year’s final televised tournament, the Five Diamond World Poker Classic at the stunning Bellagio in Las Vegas.
In addition to this incredible slate of 2012 WPT Season XI Main Events, World Poker Tour is proud to offer players around the globe the chance to play in an expanded roster of WPT Regional and National Series tournaments. With 13 upcoming events through the end of 2012, including stops across the US (Florida, Wisconsin, Nevada, Colorado) and Europe (France, Italy, Spain), the WPT Regional and National Series continue to provide players with the opportunity to compete in world-class poker tournaments with even more accessible buy-ins.
