Wouldn't buy it abroad, you will have all the wrong plugs etc and it will be a nightmare chasing up a guarantee if you have problems with it.

Vegas is cheaper.  The prices are $499 in the States for the basic version of the new one and £399 here so you save about $100 all told but as Woodsey said it is a different plug but they are fairly cheap to buy I think and the adaptor is the same.

Didn't think Amazon sold them direct themselves, just vendors in the marketplace.

I'm probably getting mine from Tesco's tomorrow

Nab get it in Vegas, fully compatible and just use your iPhone charger. If you want 3G just check out the right oner get, I think it's the AT&T one. I'm getting my 3 in Vegas to replace my dead 1

I'm getting one too but ideally wanted one before Vegas so I can get accustomed to it. I was just going to get  the new one with 3/4g through 3 for £299 and then £25 a month for 15gb of data.

Also unless you plan on putting shit loads of films on it there really isn't much need for anything more than the 32gb one.

Mine would be mostly films/music so was gonna pay the extra £70 or whatever it is and get the 64gb. Only a one off splurge so I don't mind paying the extra, always better to have too much as opposed to not enough Smiley

If you're using it mostly for movies and TV shows I would definitely go with (at least) a 32GB iPad 3.  You'll need 32GB to fit a reasonable amount of movies/episodes and the higher resolution screen on the new device will be more satisfactory for viewing.
