Wow, that's a great reply, more than I was hoping for or expecting, thank you.
I have a few questions off the back of it, but they'll have to wait, as I'm a bit busy this morning.
For now, though.....
Sure a lot of people will find the following quite amusing and i am already getting ready for the abuse.
Why would you expect abuse for that, & why would some find it amusing? It struck me as quite impressive.

I wasn't expecting abuse from your good self and the vast majority of blondes as you would think it was totally logical to do what i do having run businesses yourself for decades. I just imagine to some of blondes more casual punters/argue haters it would be a great way to have a pop. It must come across as very nitty to a casual gambler.

If every recreational punter took care in keeping a tab of their bets, wins, & losses, they'd lose so much less.
I'm not being a smart arse here, for over 30 years I was that man, just punting whatever I thought might win (no regard for price, or value of course), & I remember all my wins, & almost none of my losses.
What O'Mere taught me, via Fred, was how important good records are, and the Fred Spready is a thing of beauty, nobody, not nobody nowhere no how, can argue with the numbers - they are facts. Without that Spready, we WOULD have lost money.
Staring at the cold hard facts is a great way of finding where we are, what we are good at, bad at, need to do better, or do more of.
How many punters keep detailed records, I wonder. What %? 10%? 90%?
Now, go away, I'm busy.

I have no idea how many punters keep detailed records. I would imagine way less than 1% of all gamblers have an accurate figure to their profit and loss over a year or more. This is fine for the vast majority of punters because it is just a casual hobby for a bit of interest whilst they watch the game on tv etc whilst having a beer after work.
I always laugh when semi serious punters tell me they are winners constantly. Then i ask them how much they are up and where are their biggest profit areas etc. They often reply i don't know how much i am up. ehhhhhhh How can you know you are a winning punter then if you don't know how much you are winning and what you are winning on? They usually reply 'yer but i am a winner blah blah' Amazing how people are convinced they win (they might do) but have no proof at all.
With regards to pro gamblers i think you would be surprised how few keep detailed management accounts because they don't have to legally/tax wise they don't bother because 'what is the point/it is a waste of time i could spend punting etc'. They don't see the huge advantages from a day to day investment point of view of having the information to hand imo. Most haven't run businesses before either and know how important data is to improving performance.
If you only bet on betfair you have your records sitting looking at you if you want to for the last 3 months. You also have an easy net deposits/withdrawls figure in the withdraw section for each debit card used so you can easily see if you are a winner/loser to betfair overall since your account was open. Other bookmakers, for obvious reasons, don't provide this information to their clients. With betfair moving more and more away from the shrewd exchange model to a rec sportsbook model i wonder how much longer they will provide such information tbh.

I don't know him personally but someone told me a while ago he went skint which wouldn't surprise me given the games he used to play. He had some massive heads up stt sessions against my degen house mate years ago at high stakes. That's why i asked Camel yesterday if he ever played heads up stts on betfair because the action was mental at times.

Sure somebody told me about a year ago he was playing husngs on stars. He was only playings 15s or so. It was definitely him though as he still has the delightful chat.
I wouldn't assume it was him playing the big games though, even back then.
Should have been banned years ago, but some companies only used to care about the rake.

And the entire gambling industry would disappear in a puff of smoke. Of that I have absolutely no doubt at all.

Fair point, but nobody is going to heed my advice, so I think we are safe for a while yet.
People have a gambling gene - or many of us do - & we need our fix. I get mine in tenner SNG's, that's all it takes for me, but many of us need to gamble. How else can you explain why Roulette, where we are guaranteed to lose, is so popular across the world?

It's called willful suspension of disbelief.
Hold up a mirror to a gambler for too long and he will stop. Why do you think so many of us stopped playing poker after we installed pokertracker?

I'm sure that Tyrone the "professional roulette player" from Birmingham, who appeared on the first series of Late Night Poker would disagree with you on that last point.
We'll have to get him to put you right when he returns from Her Majesty's Pleasure.

who did you used to speak to day in day out about poker keith? Have you ever hired a coach?
I think its impossible to really be very good without being surrounded by very good players and bouncing ideas off each other. I think thats one of the reasons young people do well. Its because they have 10 other guys who don't have jobs and have a lot of common ground that are able to bounce ideas off. If you're a 50 year old male its tough to get in those circles I guess.
