PhD project survey - poker related

Hello,
My name is Daniel Kardefelt Winther, I am a PhD student at the Department of Media and Communications, London School of Economics.
In much of the media coverage today, online based hobbies such as poker, gaming or gambling receives a lot of negative attention. It is claimed to be harmful, a waste of time or "addictive".
My PhD project aims to criticise these arguments which are often founded on poor research using unsuitable methods. Furthermore, such research is often done by people who are not gamers or gamblers and therefore do not have a good grasp of the topic. The overall aim of my PhD is to give more legitimacy to online-based activities as a regular hobby.
This survey is the main data collection for my PhD. It will ask questions about your online poker playing, your thoughts and feelings about playing and not playing, some questions about possible negative or positive outcomes of your playing and also some questions about you. For those of you who are Facebook users or World of Warcraft players, there will be an opportunity to answer questions about these platforms as well, as these are the platforms I am interested in.
The survey can be found here:
https://lse.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_blNenw7bhDb6Jwg
If you have any questions at all about the project or my survey, please do not hesitate to contact me:
d.a.kardefelt-winther @ lse.ac.uk
Best regards,
Daniel

Did you know that Mick Jagger went to the London School of Economics? Mick Jagger shares his birth date with me, but when I applied to study at the London School of Economics I was rejected. Could you shed any light on this?
Completed the survey, good luck with the project.

Sorry, bad industry joke!
Survey finished, good luck with the results and Phd.
FYI, I thought the social media section missed identifying people who are spending a percentage of their time on work related online activity as opposed to wholly personal. If that's a variable you're interested in of course.

I am very interested in this variable, though perhaps more on a philosophical level than for the purposes of this survey! I think it's a difficult variable to measure for, considering how pervasive and integrated internet use has become in modern society. For example, I check my work-email quite consistently even if I'm gaming....does that make my internet use personal or work-related? Or both? Or neither? It raises the very interesting question of whether we should even attempt to classify online use....difficult to crack that one

GL with the Ph D, though I feel you've omitted the two most pertinent questions for the online poker player,
Namely;
a) Which takeaway can produce a facial eruption large enough to play "Squeeze, and Splat the Cat"?
1) MaccieDees
2) KFC
3) A lamb bhuna from the Beast of Bengal
and;
b) Have you ever bent the Richard (or in some cases, no 'the' req) over the monitor and kicked her/
his
back doors in whilst Final Tabling an MTT on Stars?
Bloody workshy, lentil munching, soap dodger etc etc .... blah, blah

Done, although it seems to be aimed at recreational not professional poker players
