I saw my first Royal Flush last night on pokerstars limit tables. I folded my hand early on and continued to watch as normal. Each hand I am not in, I always select a player at random and try to work out what he is holding by how he acts. I know this may seem strange, but got to keep myself entertained someway. Anyway, the flop came A,K,J of hearts. The turn came Q of hearts. At this point my man was still in and raised. He got two callers. The River brought a 3 of clubs. At this point I was praying for a T of Hearts almost as much as I would have been had I actually been in the hand. My man didn't have the card, but another player did. It was fantastic to see my first royal fush. I think I made other people at the table think I was some kind of crazed lunitic as I kept talking about it for about another 30 minutes. But It was so exciting to see my first royal flush. For an early christmas present this year, I want a royal flush of my own.

What is strange about this?!?

I am ALWAYS trying to guess what people have by the way the act - reading people is a big part of the game.

Yea I guess you are right. It is an aspect of my game which is only now starting to improve. I am sure playing a real game of poker against oppenents sitting next to me will be another challenge completely. My big problem is when I get a big hand, I forget that I am playing against other people and just think to myself " excellent I have made my hand.....I am going to be paid....and continue betting at it", then disaster strikes and my opponent shows me a slightly better straight or a slightly better flush. When my reading ability improves, this probrem should be eliminated. I hope.

I usually watch what other people play - good to get a feel for things.

Never had a royal flush myself, not even sure Ive seen one Sad  Got really excited with a straight flush I had once (10 high) but that was it and it was ages ago.
