Stacks are 680 effective. 200nl, villain opens utg 5handed, we peel sb.

Preflop: Hero is SB with
Villain raises to €6.00, 2 folds, Hero calls €5.00, 1 fold

Flop: (€13.00)     (2 players) Hero checks, Villain checks

Turn: (€13.00)     (2 players) Hero  bets €10.50, Villain calls €10.50

River: (€34.00)     (2 players) Hero checks, Villain bets €28.00, Hero  raises to €74.00, Villain raises to €216.00, Hero folds

Unknown villain, thoughts on pre and river please.

Seems fine so far, guess we can fold, call or raise pre depending on oppo.  I think all must be ok 600 bbs deep.

Why are we check raising the river, instead of value betting.  I think we have to fold, but the play feels weird enough for him to spew sometimes?

I assume this is on tinternet

Think just betting river is prob better than craising as hes just going to check back loads with ax/kx/9x hands and you could still have air.  As played its fine.

Yeh river is a clear bet, as played we have to snap muck, people don't check back flop and then go nutso on the river like this.

Also think we should probably lead flop as he will check back alot of one pair hands (assume he checked back aa here) and can call us with draws etc.

Check raising river seems pretty FPS. Just bet.

Pre i dislike peel the most out of the three options, but it can't be thatttt bad i guess.

V Good fold now though

little above my level.

why would we take this river line as apposed to

a. check - call
b. bet - call/fold

??

surely his utg range that beats us is aa/ak/aq?? all are very possible the way the hand has played??

All of this. I think he has a bunch of stuff that might call the river but won't value bet when checked to (seems like he's setting himself up to get owned if he's value betting Ax here)

How do you feel about c/r turn? Or even c/c turn, c/r river (maybe not this river but as a plan for better rivers)?

Hands that I am thinking that villian could have ( AA, KK, AQ, KQ, 99, Q9, JT)

but the wierd way he has played this I have discounted all of them... apart form KK.

preflop : 3 bet
river : bet/fold against reg.    bet/call against anybody spewy/drunk/clueless....

think he can only have AA and AQ here. He's gonna cbet KK, 99 and JT close to 100% of the time on this board. Checking back AA and AQ is easily possible / normal even, so I think that's all he can have, so yeh I folded.

well well.. I really think you should have lead the flop.
Very few people donk lead effectively. and this is a nice spot.
If he flats he probs just has a flush draw or the rocket salad.
Check bet check allows him to bluff the river
It's a tough decision for you because he can have all the better hands
Therefore I think taking the initiative this hand puts you in a better place.

Opinion pre -  standard call.

Opinion river - bet.
