Have I missed something? His first serves was shocking.

You missed the end of a great game of tennis, that´s for certain. His serve was fine, not quite up to earlier standards but he was being put uder a huge amount of pressure from the greatest player in the history of the game, the guy a deserves a bit of slack and a lot of credit.

The reason he lost had (almost) nothing to do with Murray, he actually played very well. It had everything to do with Federer. To say Murray played badly fails to recognize the fact he just got beaten by the best player of all time playing at his best.  Nobody would have beaten Federer today. FACT. ;-)

Not really sure how you could watch that and hate on Murray, devd for him.

Agreed, definitely come  on in the last couple of years personality wise and played great this Wimbledon.  His time will come.
From another point of view how can you watch a game on tennis and not want Federer to win. Federer is not only the greatest tennis player on the planet but may be the greatest overall sportsman on the planet.

Well, I agree with most of that. I certainly don't begrude him winning, certainly one of the greatest and he is just fantastic to watch.   Call me patriotic, but I'd just like to have had a British winner today.

Murray's first serve when it goes in, is extremely effective. He definitely had more unreturned serves than Federer today.

His problem is his first serve in % and a weak 2nd serve.

I gonna go ahead assume you haven't see Murray play a lot if you had to turn off after a few sets as he played well today.

Indeed you have. Serves is plural whereas was is singular.  You are a complete dunce.

Steady sir. We don't allow flaming on here.

He's entitled to his opinion, even if it is utter bollocks.

So ridiculous to be critical of Murray, though in fairness, there's not much on here..but I hear it a lot. Lack of mental toughness etc etc.

Probably only 3 people, all time, in the world who have ever been able to play it better.

I'm constantly amazed at just how good these guys are at what they do

These are my exact thoughts.

When Murray got in his first serve they was a lot more effective than RF's, but he was failing more often than not getting in his first serve. His second serves was also meaningless and even when RF was on his second serve, they was a lot more effective than RF's.

I am not saying he played bad, but was extremely disappointing to see how many times he had to use a second serve. I think this was perhaps why the game did not go to a 5 setter.

I also think his attitude is wrong, you looked at both players throughout and Murray was always frustrated, whilst RF always looked composed. There was also fitness issues, commentary said that they think Murray was the fitter player, but again, he looked a lot more knackered than RF, but perhaps this because RF had him running around all game?

I agree that his 2nd serve isn't great, think it's the weakest part of his game and possibly the only thing left he needs to improve. He definitely competed today and could've won it imo, hopefully he'll get there soon.

His 2nd serve is obviously weak but at the same time for the first 2/3 sets Fed was just chipping them back down the middle and was not really punishing it.

The rain coming is what cost Murray, once the roof closed  fed was creaming his forehand beautifully before that he was a bit erratic.

Hes a great player but think that might be pushing it a bit.

Obviously we are in the golden era of tennis but to suggest Murray would beat Agassi, Sampras, Becker, Borg etc. is a little folly imo.

I am a bit worried about what the game will be like after Nadal, Djokovic and Federer. In 6 or 7 years are we going to be left with the likes of Dimitrov, Raonic and Tomic fighting out for grand slams. Could be depressing. Surely some new stars will come through but there is a lack of talent in players aged 17-22 at the moment. Nadal and Federer were being massively talked about as young as 15. Not heard any rumours of future greats coming through in the last couple of years. It could be a very poor period after the quality of tennis we have been used to over the last 6 or 7 years and the sport could lose popularity.

Yeah I think he will sneak one when hes like 28, probably the US or Australian so the reaction won't be anywhere near as incred as if it was Wimbledon.
