Brian Hastings ‏@brianchastings

9k coming back from last break at 300/600/150. On way back ~50 British ppl yelled "Brian Hastings is a c**t". Stay classy guys. #good4poker?

Not great, possibly deserved, not exactly ideal for getting people onside with the rail

Brian Hastings ‏@brianchastings

.@matfrankland1 @johneamespoker Don't you guys have some fact checking to do? Explained them in multiple interviews. #libel

Brian Hastings ‏@brianchastings

Pretty sick and tired of people spewing false info about me. Never shared a single HH, this has been explained. Slander/libel is not coo

Brian Hastings ‏@brianchastings

Conduct of Brits in the hallway is just insane. I couldn't care less what they think but yelling that word? Terrible for poker's image

Brian Hastings ‏@brianchastings

C**t has no business being said in a public place, especially around women. Pretty embarrassing to have to associate with people like that.

Brian Hastings ‏@brianchastings

+1 RT @ShaneSchleger: Could not disagree more with @tuckonsports --poker SHOULD be like tennis/golf wrt spectators.

Yeah that's spot on. Shouting at someone in a public hallway calling them a c*** is going way too far. Ironically makes you look like a c***.

Looks like a right nob doing that tbh, pics like that are only going to worsen the rep of the Brit railers.

Noooo, why? And so we forfeit any argument of fun railing being good for the game. That word is the only strong one left in our language, and so this kind of thing will be remembered. Why not something funny instead? A bunch of lines starting "we're sure you're a swell guy, but...." Let's remember that he was good enough to get into a respectful discussion with us afterwards, and even retweeted the Boldie thread.

Our argument is of course spot on, and 99% of the railing is great for the game, but it's only fair if this kind of thing completely turns it against us.

We are bringing something new to poker, and need to persuade the Americans that it is a good thing. Let's remember that they have practically zero undersanding of what it is all about. The reason is that they have no away fans at any sports game, and so the notion of funny, friendly banter is completely alien to them. We're also working agains "Britain's" general reputation of football hooliganism abroad, which only we know to be unfair, as it's now completely outdated.

It's inevitable, and completely fair, that some poker players will express reservations against it, especially at the start. They even have a good point. Our job is to persuade the world that we have a better one. Brian Hastings' original argument was not expressed the right way, but he has the right to feel he has won the class argument now.

Railing could add a new, great dimension to the whole game, and one that we ourselves started. However, being drunk is going to be a guaranteed and tricky feature to work against, and just maybe our trial period has proved that, as a group, it's impossible to make it work, and it's time to get out before it hurts us?

Yeah, the final line I guess is only a hypothetical thought. The stronger option is to think as a group what small changes we need to make, and show the world how it can be done.

not especially easy to be thinking them when the group is completely wrecked, though

Excellent post though. Loss of moral high ground is unhelpful
