I think I've had an issue in the past with making bets too big so am raising smaller in the mid stages but wonder if 2xBB from the button was too small?  I thought beting the flop was ok, obviously didn't appreciate the check raise, it's at this point I should have folded isn't it?   I think I've answered my own questions - raise 2.5-3bb's preflop and fold to the checkraise but would welcome an opinion.

Raise pre is fine.

Flop bet is too big.  500ish is fine I think.  With this c-bet size villain will probably raise to 1500 or so which means we have a bit more flexibility to play the streets in a smaller pot in position.

Calling flop raise to play turn in position is ok I think. He can be spazzing but will shut down on turn.

Turn is a definite fold.

Hope this makes sense.

I'm not saying this is correct but what are people's thoughts on a flop click back/small raise?

Agree with smaller C bet/call and fold turn when heart comes. We can't fold top pur on flop and there is a chance our hand is good if turn bricks.

reads on villain?

interesting thought, but clicking it back here is probs pretty spewy, putting in a third of a12k stack at 100/200 turning our hand into a bluff

Defo fold turn, I think a case can be made for folding to the flop raise in this hand

so whenever we bet q44 we're just always bluffing? if this is std line then we should just c/r everybody on every board like this?

I know where you are coming from but no, not necessarily. I mean this is a good flop to get value from 55-88 or whatever pairs he doesn't 3b pre. My delayed c-betting rate has increased against semi thinking players as people check back showdown hands a good amount OTF.

If hero peels flop c/r here and it comes offsuit 3 then offsuit T is he just calling down or what?

Really don't think he has many and why raise a queen? Click back or call down on none hearts. Don't think we can fold on most board run outs, maybe on an ace,   checkback, call call is sweet too and prob my default vs most, if checked to I'd bet quite big for value, not expecting that too often as guy should bet a lot on turn. Thoughts on click back with aces?

Min pre fine/standard. Cbet no more than half pot and call the raise, folding on heart turns. So basically wp, don't doubt yourself!

defo bet this board, people dont fold these boards anywhere near often eough imo.

agree you bet too big, I guess you were prolly looking to protect a little vs the flush draw which is completely fine but remember if he has Ace or King high FD he is not going to fold anyways because his hand has some decent value + most people wont fold ANY flush draw regardless so dont worry about protecting vs FD's as its almost impossible to do, so focus our flop bet towards punishing the weaker hands we dominate like 55-TT, random Ace highs that often hero a street or two on this board etc and the best way to exploit those hands is to bet a little smaller, something like 45-55% of the pot should be ideal. like 500~

Defo call the flop raise, as said he doesn't have a lot of 4x (A4, 45s, 46s all possible) AQ prolly 3bets decent% Blind vs BTN and KQ, is possible but quite thin from him (would be decent actually) so most of the time he is striaght up bluffing (very possible imo - although way less so when you bet this big OTF) or has a FD.

When we turn a heart w/e let him have it.

I know that what I'm about to say will most probably be completely shunned but could we ever shove in this spot? I know that I can name a few reasons why it's a possibilty, although I usually would take the bet/call option myself and then fold/check back any heart turn.

Thank you for the replies, glad I didn't do too much wrong except the flop bet size, I'll get that sorted.
