I want to pick holes in this story in so many ways but, admittedly, it's a good story.  It intrigues me beyond the usual illusion stuff he does as it involves a bookie who are apparently confirming it as a genuine bet.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2168033/Magician-Dynamo-wins-10-000-predicting-EXACTLY-Spain-win-Euro-2012.html

First of all, there's no way I believe that Paddys, or any other bookie, would have given 10,000/1 odds on this, as I've never seen odds quoted beyond 1000/1, even for 'novelty' things like Elvis being found alive, etc.  However, if you believe the footage then the betting slip had been locked in a box for two weeks beforehand, so I'm struggling to figure it out (which is obviously what I'm supposed to be doing).

However, I saw the story quoted on the Barnsley fans forum and it's just generally accepted on there that the bet is genuine, which is where I'm struggling with it.

Intrigued as to what others think about this, especially those who are regular bettors.

All just seems like complete bollocks. Paddy spends all his time doing these sorts of publicity stunts rather than actually taking a bet

Duh - PR stunt innit. There was no bet.

Dynamo gets publicity as his new TV show starts, Paddy gets more publicity after Pantsgate - everyone's a winner.

It's a good update of the very old prediction trick.

If so, then why do the Daily Mail want to look stupid by running the story, unless they're also in on it.

Surely there must've been a piece of genuine right-wing bile which they could've made better use of the column inches with.

Have you seen the Daily Mail's website?

Most of the 'stories' are pure PR puff - random celebrities on the beach.

Their website is odd - it's nothing like the newspaper and is ridiculously successful.

Never twigged that there's a difference between the paper and the website, which I guess means I'm not a Daily Mail aficianado.

(Breathes huge sigh of relief at this news)

So dynamo paid for every (or at least most) combination and proudly displays the one that won.

Nothing fraudulent in that. A neat trick
