Wow, thread gets ten pages coz the guy has got a few scratches after getting into a ruck when drunk. If six guys really only managed to do that to him then I can only assume Grumpy was holding the coats.

Sticking it all over social media sites is just daft too.

Lol too good.

Dave good luck walking away from a fight when the time comes. It just won't happen because you are gonna wade in for your mates or loved ones

I would have no problem walking away in this scenario v 6 guys when its clear your going to take a beating. Saying safe v loss of a bit of pride its not even a close decision either.

when i was younger i got myself into a few scrapes but could handle myself, the only time i turned violent without getting hit first is when a man or group of men insulted a lady in my company. i could take as much verbal as they wanted to give to me and i wouldnt bat an eyelid but no-one to this day will insult a lady in my company and get away with it without an apoligy

Close protection Sam, you are worth enough now to interest all kinds of low lifes, and walking around unprotected is going to lead to further incidents, sad that the world forces the succesful to take these steps, but clearly you need it.
Yeah this does worry me. Can't see it being long before these crims that target pro footy players turn their attention to young pro poker players. In these sort of incidents the police are next to helpless and it certainly pays to know the right people

I think this is a jump too far

1) Back home, the most famous poker player would still be recognised less than someone who sits on the bench
for Stoke City.
2) This is not changing particularly, it will always be the case
3) This is even the case in Vegas, it's surprising how little players are recognised.
4) If someone did make a rude remark, the poker player should let their pride and self-esteem depend on something else other than their response to this man.
5) If they find that difficult, then they can take their pride from the fact that they have made it in life more than Ryan Shawcross

Cheers mate. Couldn't find a relevant thread to post in with my intros, so I thought I'd jump straight in.

A bench warmer for Stoke probably earns more than 99.9% of poker players.

True, and even when Stoke City drop a couple of divisions to where their football belongs, it will still be 99.8%

Awful news and gl Sam.

Reading this thread took me back a few years when I was on the fringes of the "wrong" crowd. One night I was with the recognised "hardest" having a drink when a few no names seeing there were only two of us decided to try and start. My "mate" just walked away leaving me standing there thinking "wtf". They left me alone and carried on drinking when my "mate" walked back in and unloaded a sawn off into the ceiling above them!!

MasterCard could not cover the worth of the look on their faces - or wipe my a***!!

He got 18 months for that one lol!

How very dare you  Grin

In my teens (70's) we, Stoke City had a great side. Banksy in Goal, Smith at the back, Greenhoff up front. I think given the finances Mr.Pulis has worked miracles, but as a supporter it's frustrating to see them passing it nicely one week then hoofing it up the next. I fear unless we add to the squad this season we will indeed struggle.

Come on the Potters.

Yes still 99.8%  Cheesy

Smiley Yeah, my choice of team for my argument was simply a joke aimed at a friend!

I definitely agree that Stoke play some nice football at least half the time. It means that their reputation as hoof it long and try to win a throw so that Delap can find the big ugly striker, whilst the rest of the team get ready to kick the opposition's dribbler, is basically nonsense, but football pundits work on these kind of cliches.

That was indeed a cracking team, known as "dads army" and players of lovely football, I was a huge Greenhoff fan.

Today's team of discus throwers and leg-breakers(not that kind of player, we know) managed by the goblin pubis not so much...
