I'm thinking about doing the FA Cup - From start to Finish.

Extra Preliminary Draw has been made to be played on the 11th August.  Containing 200 Ties. Randomly choose a team, tie, or select my nearest team, then follow the winner from there onwards.

Preliminary Round Saturday 25 August 2012
First Round Qualifying Saturday 8 September 2012
Second Round Qualifying Saturday 22 September 2012
Third Round Qualifying Saturday 6 October 2012
Fourth Round Qualifying Saturday 20 October 2012
First Round Proper Saturday 3 November 2012
Second Round Proper Saturday 1 December 2012
Third Round Proper Saturday 5 January 2013
Fourth Round Proper Saturday 26 January 2013
Fifth Round Proper Saturday 16 February 2013
Sixth Round Proper Saturday 9 March 2013
Semi Final Saturday 13 & Sunday 14 April 2013
Final Saturday 11 May 2013

Challenge will be Tickets obviously in the later rounds, but bit of willpower/luck sure its done done plenty of times before.

Any experience here?.Any pitfalls I've not thought about?

Would do a diary type here for those interested

Do you follow a team and watch their games regularly?

One possible pitfall is if your own team has a dream tie to clash with the other game.  Could you bear to miss it?

Also, you can pretty much guarantee to get a replay at the wrong end of the country on a Tuesday evening.

But yes, it does sound like a fun thing to do.  Enjoy!

Had thought of this tbh, follow Liverpool, so if we have big tie, probs be on TV, so odds that the team I'm following being on the same day remote-ish.  I dont go anywhere near like i used to - ticket issues etc so prob wouldn't have gone anyway.  Worth the risk, cross fingers it doesn't come to any major decision..

that or i pick them up in the 3rd rnd...and we go to Wembley together!

I did this a few years ago from Extra Prelim to the first round, where life clashes started getting in the way

Might go again this year

Start with my very local team Cranfield United who on 11th August play in the extra prelim for the first time in ten years away at Biggleswade United.

Winner is home to Ware Town

Winner home to Hitchin Town in R1Q

All local to me, so am considering

If I did the local team to where i live now...then my route starts

Northampton Spencer vs Yaxley

winner away to Wisbech Town or Desborough Town

winner home to vs Kettering Town

What's the easiest way to work out if one of the random teams are close to home?!  (West London)

Surely you'd have to start with AFC Liverpool on a tough sounding trip to AFC Blackpool?

Got a random draw done-

Tie number 147-

Chessington & Hook United vs Warlingham

So it's going to be that or the local team Yaxley to start with

Looks like I'm knocked out before I got started.......

Family event clashes already, so clearly needs more planning before i can commit!

Maybe next year!
