Junior you are only just scratching the surface here mate.
What you describe is only the mildest form of cheating, cheating nevertheless.
If you think that Ash "the cockroach" Abdullah will assist you in any of these matters
I strongly suggest that you think again.

wall - i finished 4th last night - made a move which would have ultimately put me in a position to win the comp outright. - in essence i was playing to finish either 4th or 1st. - so reasonably happy overall it just really pissess me off to see action like that.
ralph - i was more looking to ash for his views and he was quite vocal against collusion - i can't really comment on other forms of cheating as i believe this has now been largely erradicated in the comps at Notts since the 'must cut' rule was brought into place

rule 14 should read english only in the card room
That's what the signs say at the Riverboat. I've heard a bit of foreign speaking & the guys doing it were warned (& had the grace to look embarrassed).

he rule used in most cardrooms has always been "English only in the Cardroom" for the exact reason of railbirds "helping" friends.
This is a problem everywhere but not seen it to that extent for a while, personally as you seem to have a bit of hard evidence about it the supervisor should have a discreet word and possibly impose a temporary ban to drill the message home that this sort of thing will not be tolerated, but maybe now exposed it will be stopped.
Same village play happens all over and is hard to do anything about but if it came to it you can always have them for ungentlemanly conduct lol

there are players like that in every comp i have played in in my local comp there are about 4 groups with 4 or so in each, the whole casino knows what they do, one time i remember there was 2 of the ^groups^ in the final, they wanted to deal strait out, but never the less i refused and eventually did a deal 3 way me takein the most most of the time though the Cheaters dont seem to prosper we even have 4 players in our local cash game who cheat with each other and lose a small fortune about 9-10 games, in my experience though the pepole who soft play each other are actually doing themselves out of the money/chips by not takeing advantage of there good handsr, so i prefer them to do it because in the long run it costs them, anyway thats my view, let them cheat from my experience its a disadvantage to them stu

good point stu! there is no way you can maximise the amount of chips you can win if you can only take them from 8 out of 10 players on a table.

Greg.....I've been fighting a loosing war with cheats at Gala for years. It is without doubt the most infested casino in the uk. Most poker players know who the cheats are, and I suspect so does the casino staff and managment. The cheats are under the illusion that cheating is part of the game. As I've recently said to a few of them, If ever I got cought cheating [ that, will never happen....I'm too good.. lol ] the shame of it would keep me at home forever, but they just laugh it away,as if, ahh well, never mind be more carefull next time. We have lost quite a few players because of cheating, but the casino seem to listen to players who give them ' ACTION 'on the house games, rather than players whom they know to be honest and trustworthy. The answer...dont know... but must rest with the casino.

whilst not as rife as it used to be (depsite being told AND shown by tikay & myself on many occasions), same village play is still out there in nottingham.
re-education is what's needed as most guilty parties don't see anything wrong with it.
methinks something in bold on the notice board & a verbal warning to all from rob might be the way forward

Well I knocked my best bud out of the later stages of the 250 at Notts, so my hands are clean. I felt guilty, but that's poker.

Nice to hear from you Kim. I believe that cheating in the comps is now only possible through colusion as cutting the deck has now surely made it impossible to set the deck in anyone's favour? - thoughts? - unless you know otherwise, i would be interested to know if you want to send me a provate message. I know for a fact and through observation that prior to the cut rule there were dealers (who incidentally don't want to deal now... cough!) who could set the deck in their favour especially in the first hand of the evening when they had their hands on the deck for minutes prior to the first deal.
i know the cash game is crook (player dealers etc.) - so why do you put up with it Kim, i know you are a regular player in the cash game - i stil to this day have not put a penny into tha cash game in over 3 years as i just wouldn't feel comfortable.
Anyway, I have said in an earlier post that i have private messaged the card room manager and you are right, it does lie with them and i suppose all we can do about it for now is to recognise for ourselves who they are and avoid them - although there should be punnishment.

Final Table in Notts a couple of years ago Angelo from a mid position Raises 7000 blinds at 1000/2000. Basher Made a all-in bet leaving Angelo 1500 to call I'm sitting to the left of Angelo. Angelo then passes but not before showing me AK and giving me a smile. Now I am not saying in the slightest they were cheating but I just thougt why show me your cards and then give it a smile. I put it down to Angelo having the perfect read but not calculating the pot odds. We live and Learn.I would like to know of a sport/passtime which involves so much money that things just happen without being questioned.
