Thanks Tighty and for all the good wishes today on FB, it warms the cockles.

I've only ever played one APAT event before - a PLO event a couple of years ago. Its certainly a different animal to what I've become accustomed to predominately playing at DTD over the last few years. I'd forgotten what it was like to play in a largely amateur field.

There were some moves I hadn't seen since the long old days when the century began with 19-- Smiley.  It really was a fun couple of days once I got over the shellshock of 3 to 10x ing pre, limitless limps and peels, donk betting galore & calling down every street followed by the obligatory river fold and statement "I know you've got not non of that but I can't call!"

Once I'd adjusted to their brains and told myself about 30 times to not get angry when they did silly things, I had a ball and remembered what life was like prior to cold 4 & 5 bets with air. Most of the people were lovely, friendly and above all out to have a great weekend with like minded people not all thinking they are Phil Ivey or Patrik Antonius.

I just wanted to give an example of a hilarious coup I had late on on day1. I'd been at my new table for about an hour so didn't have much info an anyone.  Blinds were 500/1k and I had about 35k in the big blind.  The serial limper/raiser at the table limps in early position, button limps 1k and the sb makes it up. I look down at a wonderful K & K (not Keith & Keys cos I would certainly be looking up at them). Now, this is fun cos so far initial limper man has played every single hand since I had sat down and once a chip of his is in the pot then no way he leaves it out there. I mused that if I raised too small, we go 4 way to the flop so didn't fancy that at all.

Somehow I arrive at a 7.5k raise - serial limp/raiser man long dwelled (as he did for EVERY decision) and to my utter astonishment folded for the first time in 30 hands! Anyways, button got out the way too, on to the small blind - who, after investing a total of 1k, snap shoves his entire 45k stack lol. I chuckle call and await my fate. The guy turns over his hand so quickly and proudly that before I even register what he has tabled, I had a sudden fear that this guy had played AA so weirdly that he had me good and proper. Then my eyes fed the information to my brain - he had a Jack and a 2 of different colours!!

It was a hilarious moment , even the J2 guy was smiling, even if it was an oops smile. Two guys at the other end of the table were having a conversation and missed how both our chips were all in pre. They tried to figure out what was going on by standing up and leaning over the table to see that yes, I was up against J2. Then there was that awkward silence whilst the board was being dealt out and the other players were sat in thought relaying WTF in their heads. As a said, a fun tournament.

Very glad to have made the final, annoyed to have come 7th for like the gazillionth time it feels, but above all a great warm up for the £500 which I am playing on Thursday. I can't wait, it should be an awesome event.

I think its the fun of the APAT and the camaraderie that makes it so special. Jam 45BB and hope you get the Opponent to fold. Doesn't always work but i bet he had a ball..

WP on the 7TH place..

lol I have no idea Suzanne who he was bless him. After he was left with about 10k from our hand, he built back up to about 50k then did the exact same move again but with 5 7. He left the table all smiles and wished everyone good luck and was quite genuine about it. Was sad to see him go lol.

Tomlin limps the button with A-Q

Alex Goulder shove J-2 in the big blind

call

Re: The magnificent blonde 7 in the APAT ECOAP
I twice saw people limp fold with <10bb.

That's part of the fun of the event, as you said. It's nice occasionally to have an idea where you are in a hand. But more than that, the atmosphere was significantly more positive than a lot of events; didn't hear a cross word all day in the 6max or the £25 evening comp (apart from one I had but I'm practically perfect in every way* so that's fine).

Well played anyway, Chili.
