I am really unimpressed by betfair and there attitude to customer service.
Earlier this morning I placed an in-running bet on a basketball game.
I then closed the laptop and went to sleep and got up this morning to see that the team I had backed had won their game.
Upon checking my account I could see the balance was substantially lower than what I had expected to be in the account so checked my betting history and could see an additional bet was placed on the same event approximately 40 minutes after the original bet, by this time I am asleep and there was nobody else in the house to place the bet.
Accordingly I contact betfair and their response was both clinical and bordering on questioning my integrity. They confirmed bets were both placed from same IP address.
What I don't understand is how it could have been done so I question further and they respond by telling me that the second bet was placed via the cashout facility, now I have used this in the past but you really need to be in full control to do this, its not like you could misclick one button.
Anyone else suffered problems like this? Is it worth my time trying to get a credit back from betfair?
What I don't understand is the 2nd bet would have been nonsensical as from the price taken I would assume my team had the match wrapped up and would have been trading very short in running.

Obv from their point of view, they've heard all sort of stories so you can understand. Try to get them on your side ie strongly emphasise that you couldn't have placed this bet at this time, so something has gone wrong at your end or at theirs and you want their help to work out what it is.

I use it every day and when I find rogue bets its always a hedge I have forgotten about. You definitely never left any trigger bets?

Definitely never left any bets there as a hedge, we're not talking about significant figures here. Its more on principal.
I am not adverse to hedging or greening out.

I haven't a clue mate, I wouldn't recommend anyone to them anyway. There are far better sports books out there and I hear Betdaq is a good exchange but struggles with liquidity, think I will be taking my hard earned in that direction.

I had this escalated to a manager who refunded my account with the difference between the possible winning and the hedge, happy to have it resolved.

They offered no explanation, advised this was a one off only etc.
I believe there may well be a glitch and they ain't admitting to it.

I did have an issue 18 months ago about a bet on a market I never even look at let alone trade on. It was about 40.00 gbp. They insisted I had the bet so I just gave up. You did we'll there to get anything. To be honest though, I've not had any other problems.
