Amazing manager and it was only a matter of time.

Thanks for the memories:

Hope we can secure another great manager to take us forward.  The wrong appointment could see us slide back down the leagues :-(

I'm surprised he's made the move.  Thought he'd eventually go to somewhere bigger than Palace.

Who do you want to replace him?  I see Keith Hill is being linked and this is the one time I'm fearful that we'll lose him.

Keith Hill working with players like Tom Ince and Matt Phillips

Scary thought for the other teams in the division.

I imagine the divisional big guns are now only planning to sneak second at this prospect Camel.

they should be

has worked wonders and developed other players that either had massive off the field issues and/or were not wanted by anybody else

Sean Dyche did more with Watford last year than Hill did with a lower budget.  Like the Crystal Palace love in it seems people are getting carried away again.

Barnsley came 17th last year.  They are 20th this year.  Let's get some perspective.

I would be extremely surprised if Blackpool were not aiming highing than Keith Hill.

so his previous excellent work in the lower league is not worth anything?

or the fact his whole side was ripped apart twice

What the team that came 17th was ripped apart?

Hill got Rochdale promoted once.  That's it.   Good work there and a job well done at Barnsley on a small budget.

Blackpool will aim higher.

They may do

If they end up with one of the old stock names they will regret it though

What has this got to do with palace? 90% of football fans would not have a clue who hill is hardly a big name

Last season Barnsley played some of the best football I have ever seen from a team outside the top division.

They did this with a team of basically unknowns and rejects.

The midfield of Butterfield, Drinkwater, O'Brien and Vaz Te was just a joy to watch.

Three of those four are no longer with the team.

Yet anyone who saw the 5-0 demolition of Brum will testify he has created another fantastic team. Again with virtually no budget.

If he gets the chance to work with better players and even with a small budget, I think he'll be a roaring success.

Hill seems to be one of those chaps who likes to dampen expectation so when Barnsley finish 21st he can say how amazing he is.

After the Hull defeat he said something along the lines of if I get us to 50 points and we stay up it will be like having walked a tightrope with 2 broken legs.  I mean, come on.  Barnsley are really that much better off than they were under Robins or Wilson or the previous incumbents all who had similar budgets?  Are they that much worse than 8 of the other poorer championship clubs?

I'm not advocating Blackpool go for one of the wretchedly poor merry-go-round managers like Megson, Reid or Jewell.  But they would be better placed going for someone dynamic like Robinson at MKD or the Fleetwood boss.

Otherwise, Hill will be telling them how if they get to 60 points and come 12th, it will be like XXXXXXXXX (put cliche)

They are 20th Camel.  One game doesn't make a season.  At Hull on Saturday they hardly had a shot on goal.

MKD have a significantly lower budget than Huddersfield did.  They play attractive stuff and are consistent - he is building up a head of steam there and they have a decent shot of being an established Championship club in my opinion over the next 3/4 years if they keep him.  Lee Clark on the other hand, over successive seasons took one of the market leaders in the division to play off defeat if I remember correctly.

BH's post after Leeds v Barnsley

FWIW, I think our run-good vs Leeds comes to an end today.  We're playing pretty, possession football at the moment but it's lacked an end product in the last two games and Leeds, predictably under Warnock, have found a way to dig out results this season.

Pretty much the way it turned out.

You killed us for 20 minutes, could've had a few but then after that chances were limited at both ends. Was a pretty dire match, you played the better football but never looked like scoring, although Harewood did miss from a yard after a set piece and a scramble.

Aidy White was awful, Becchio was terrible too apart from his moment of pure genius from the penalty spot.

We've made an ok start with a very cheap and small squad, i'm glad of the 2 week break though, the players looked knackered today. Should be plenty of time to get Green and Norris fit again and we desperately need a body in on loan up front.

They won't play amazing every week, but he has spent 0.

If I was a Barnsley fan, I'd love him.
