There is a rumour too that one of the backroom staff of Brighton laid a crap on the middle of the floor in the away dressing room just before half time, it was noticed and was used to spur on a great second half performance for Palace.

Tis a rumour though, it may all be sh*t.

The writing seemed to be on the wall for Poyet with all of the talk of him reaching the ceiling with Brighton. Very ungrateful really, even if true, don't go on record saying that and quietly resign stating that issue privately. Could have just used that post match interview to thank his players for their efforts.

I can't think of many Championship clubs better equipped to go into the Prem than Brighton. (talking about support, ground and infrastructure rather than team and personnel)

Leeds, Sheff Weds, possibly Leicester. Would say Wolves but they left the Championship at the wrong end...

Basically Poyet's an ungrateful twat.

I think he'll live to regret this.

He's had two full seasons at Brighton. Got promoted from league one and playoffs in the next. With the squad he had, both seasons, could another manager easily have emulated his success?

Is there a lot to be said for his tactical nous? Or an average manager spoilt by great backing?

Did he squander a bit of the transfer kitty too?

3 whole seasons - you missed out 11/12 where Brighton finished mid table

The marquee signing of his whole tenure - Craig Mackail-Smith, who he lobbied for long and hard was wasted money because Poyet never played a system which suited the player.

He is a really good player imo, but will never be a hold it up, bring other players into the game sort of striker which is the role Poyet so often used him in.

So that's £2.5 million down the toilet.

how many Championship teams have a budget bigger than the amount spent on that one player? Not many.

He got Brighton playing excellent football for sure. But he has an awful lot of failings. His huge ego probably being the biggest failing of all.

As I wrote it I knew that didn't sound quite right about his time at Brighton so ty.

Yeh he has been quoted as saying some daft things in the media generally too and comes across as petulant. However, it must be the football he gets his teams playing that is the most important thing, and without knowing too much and just going from reports on here from you guys, he has had them play magnificent stuff a lot of the time.

I do find it odd that he could be fastracked so quickly into a job like Everton when I think he still has failings and most importantly only 3ish years lower league management experience however, it wouldn't be too hard to give him some media training and gloss over one of his current huge leaks. To think about a top 6 English side though, I think that isn't right.

Too I wouldn't mind starting a debate on here, which I probably should start on its own thread of retiring/retired players seamlessly stepping into very well respected managerial roles without much managerial experience at all. Is it right?

I know Alex Ferguson is a firm believer in that you need a solid apprenticeship before you can think about management and disliked the prospect of ex players going into the deep end relatively cold.

I can think of Steve Staunton as a manager that has been pretty useless but got jobs from his playing days rep. But I suppose Pep Guardiola and others would want to step in and argue for their case.

Question is really then, is player experience more often than not sufficient for that person to be a good manager, or is it all dependent on so many other variables?

Is this really true Keith?  I can only think of a handful of clubs that aren't on a par.  For sure Brighton have a pretty solid fanbase and a good feel about the place in the last few seasons but success and new grounds do that for a club.  At the start of the period Boro played at the Riverside they were getting close to 30k crowds and had a similar feel good feeling.  Now they are going the other way and it is the opposite.  I agree Brightons ground is one of the better grounds in terms of being pleasant and well designed and a good matchday experience but the hard core support was around 6500 at Withdean.  I would imagine eventually their support will eventually average back out back at around 16-17k like most other clubs at this level.  Of course it is always dangerous to underestimate Mr Bloom but I would be pretty amazed if Brighton were really able to sustain what they have going on at the moment.

Will have a training facility that rivals England's new one in next 18 months too.

New manager will be guaranteed 25,000 home fans, with that many season ticket holders already for next season.

Impressive. Be interesting who you have to take charge for that. I suppose there is a small chance it could still be Poyet somehow. As he is only suspended pending an inquiry, if they haven't enough on him, he could remin despite the ill feeling? Or never?

If not Poyet, who is your best guess?

The difference is Boro have a pretty small catchment area where they are the biggest draw. Newcastle and Sunderland so close, that many potential fans will be drawn away.

Brighton have just Crawley to compete within a 30-40 mile vicinity.

The business plan has meant many people are committed to seasons tickets for many years going forward.

As Anthony says the training facilities are going to be the envy of most Prem teams.

I think Brighton are in a great place in general, although I think the team might not be for next season at least.

I'm enjoying the possibility that the Palace back 4 wouldn't notice that someone had left a massive twirler in the centre of their dressing room.  Bodes  well for Vydra sneaking in unmarked at the back post in a week imo Smiley

Not that I can see Zola moving on this summer whatever happens, but if he did take a Premiership vacancy, then Poyet would be a good fit for the Watford project.

Ever since Mondays comments no one wants him here.

1. Di Matteo
2. Solksjaer
3. Rosler
4. Calderon

Is my preferred list!

Saw palarse sold out at wembley, got your ticket?

Nah, far too temperaMENTAL       ....     Gus needs to go off somewhere and have a good look at himself.

If he could get rid of his childish traits, he could become an even better manager    ....     what Chairman, of a big Prem club, in his right mind is going to employ a Poyet type?

If he managed to stop acting like a DiCanio clone, and observed/adopted Zola's respectful style of management   ...    he could be dynamite.

At the moment, his outlandish mood swings make him look a total tosser      ....     when there really is a good deal of talent in that man.

#3 on your list would be an absolutely hilarious target.  The two chairman are huge rivals and dislike each other with a passion.  Rumour has it that when Brentford played Brighton a few years ago Bloom went into the changing rooms before the game and told the players exactly how much it would mean to him to win the game.  If Bloom tried to take Rosler it would lead to an almighty struggle.

Exceptional. Whoever it was, thank you.

I may break into the Palace changing rooms at Wembley and do a crap again if it rouses us like it might of against Brighton. I knew that performance came out of nowhere. Good stuff.

At least it was only in and around the toilets and BEFORE they even arrived. If it was just before half time that really would have been something.
