Optimising Tiled Tables

   Currently experimenting with a new set-up moving from a 19" monitor to a 27"..... I'm a recreational low stakes cash player usually playing 4 tables of $10NL or $25NL depending on game selection.... Just purchased a new monitor with the intention of adding a few more tables into my session.

    As it stands i just seem to be doing everything bigger. My computer wont let me minimise a table to below roughly a 1/4 of the available screen size. I have played around with some different screen resolutions and seem to have the same recurrent problem. Thought id use this forum to access people in the know who have probably had similar issues. Is it just a simple setting i need to adjust or is there more to it than than (kind of imagining I'm going to need a more powerful graphics card) ?

You shouldn't have to play about with different resolutions - just put it on the biggest one your monitor can handle and leave it there.

right click the desktop assuming you are running windows, go to screen resoultion and set it to the biggest setting you can that doesn't make it all go black and not work anymore :p

then open stars, select time tables from the little btn to the right of options, it should happily do 1 really big, 2x2, 3x3, 4x4 making the tables progressively smaller.


once you play about with it a bit, and for example use a second monitor you can right click that menu and click 'save layout' to whatever you want to call it, and in future you can click the menu button and select 'recently saved layout' and all the tables will jump to those positions.


edit on a mac, you'll need to sort screen resolution in system preferences, either in the dock, or in the top left apple menu 2nd to 4th item down.

Isn't this problem to do with the graphics not the monitor?

a low performance gfx card wouldn't allow the higher resolutions, but there is nothing stopping you manually resizing the stars tablers, so no reason for them to be massive. At least that's what I read and took from the op.

after reading the above responses I'm fairly sure the graphics card is my issue. My monitor is actually an old 27" LCD TV I don't use anymore. Pretty sure that doesn't make a difference just need a more powerful graphics card that will allow greater resolutions. Cheers for the advice though

be aware that tvs just don't run as well for PC use, thje resolutions are never as high and don't work as well.

I know a bit about the performance difference between monitors and TV's. Quite sure a 27" 1080p TV will keep up with a 19" monitor though? going to do some graphics card research.

I've had a lot of playing with this for my current setup (3x24' monitors 'eyefinitied')

Put up all the specs of the equipment you have..
Also google search for pokerstars table size or something, I found a page where it tells you the actual dpi (dots per inch) size of each table and some simple maths will tell you how many tables.

Turns out 1080p is terrible for poker. As it is often 1920x1080... And poker requires x1200 for decent screen usage. (found this out to my cost of £1k.)

Your issue has been pointed out in the last few posts.

Yes, your screen is physically large - but its resolution isn't. Basically it doesn't have as many pixels on the screen as a normal 15" laptop screen, so you're only going to be able to fit as much on the screen as the resolution allows. This is why 27" monitors are more expensive than the same size TVs. They have far greater resolution.

Might be your graphics card too. My lappie graphics card is shite and wont use the full screen of my monitor, depends on what spec your using you may have same issues. May also need to update your drivers
