Is just me or are these things total bullshit?

How do you work them out do you use roman numerals and the words representing letters or what?

Heres an example,

NINE  MULTIPLY BY SIX DIVIDE BY TWO ADD NINETEEN

Add all the numbers.

These sort of things really bug me, cos no1 ever wins. Surely it not be a variety of answers?

Oh god don't start me on these programmes. My housemate is obsessed with them and insists on watching them when i could be doing something more productive, like erm watching poker.  They are meant to be riddles and a bit clever alledgedly. Yet no one ever gets it right, they never change the question, you get idiots guessing the number that the 3 clowns before them have guessed and the lack of callers leads to the amateurish presenters having to fill in a number of cringeworthy ways.

The answer is prob somewhere between 0 and 1000 but who can tell.

Don't they deliberately choose a question that could have several answers and then only let someone get it right when it suits them?

I know the answer to the question....NINE  MULTIPLY BY SIX DIVIDE BY TWO ADD NINETEEN.............

King Kong

I emailed them once to ask out of interest (never called their premium rate numbers) how they reached one of their answers and the reply was it is a secret and we can't tell you. I took this as we keep going until we have enough money and giev to the next caller.

one of these channels were on watchdog.  a quiz maker guy who does stuff for newpapers and quiz books etc was on there and confirmed that they are a pile of poo.  they contacted the company who just said they use specific formula to come up with their answers and that its audited blah blah blah.  wonder if there are any solutions on google....

Quizmania on ITV, Quiz Call channel on Freeview and Quiz Night Live are simply telephone lotteries with a massive negative expectation. They are really a mug's bet.

A program like Millionaire is a telephone lottery but I suppose at least in their case the prize is worth winning (ie a shot at the studio game).
