Probably far too early to be posting this, but after todays race I reckon Long Run is going to push the price of a few other horses out.

I want to go big on Sir Des Champs @ 8/1.

What do the horse gurus reckon about this race? Sir Des is due to race Flemenstar in the next week.,, is it worth waiting to see the result of this race? I just love the way Sir Des jumps, reminds me of Masterminded in its prime. Am prob gonna stick the lot on it so thought had best check if people think othewise!

Massive fan of Sir Des Champs signing in.

Hes a real proper Cheltenham festival horse and loves the better ground.

Got me into profit for the festival in both the last 2 years so obviously have some personal feelings about the horse (I know, I know sorry).

All class and both races hes won at Chelt he has just put the amount of effort needed in to win the races, nothing more. Sign of a good horse.

On the other hand, some very shrewd judges are on The Giant Bolster ew @ 25s. Thought it might drift after todays poor showing but hasn't much, I guess a lot of the race/track conditions were very different to that which they will encounter in March.

I fancy Silvanno conti, for Nichols not to bother give it another run, speaks volumes for me.

Thought it was one of the best races I've seen - and I'd backed Sir Des Champs.

Never seen a horse jump so badly all the way round and still get close. Gold Cup looking very open indeed.

Yes, incredible race! Thoroughly enjoyable too, even when not viewing it through our pockets.

Never too early to post a Gold Cup thread. Surprised nobody did it the day after the last one.

I have no knowledge of who might win or any of that sort of thing but I know I'll be getting royally smashed on the day and spewing a small fortune.

CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!

Have to agree with Ruby.

Tidal Bay won't win a Gold Cup unless it comes up heavy.

If he were mine, I'd run him in the Stayers Hurdle.

(Although has Wylie had a runner in the Gold Cup yet?)

None that has had a chance, and that's what I hope will persuade Wylie to go this route. With three stayers on the mantelpiece you have to go for the Holy Grail.

As I said in TFT, if you ignored Tidal Bays age, he has the profile of an improving horse, and let's remember he has won an Arkle on good ground ffs. It's not his fault all his last races have been on heavy ground since Nicholls has found the key.

Having beat or having collateral form which gives him an edge of nearly all the main players, the swan song has to be the GC.
