What can he have? Seems like we're getting bluffed off most of our range if we fold this. This is in a 300euro french sunday donkament. very mixed standard. He's c/raised to 6k with 10k back btw. seems like a reasonably trivial fold, I did fold, but it's bugging me...

I'm not good enough to fold here, especially vs a random.

no dont check flop/turn would be terrible!

they are french and not folding pairs between 8 and K!

even for balance purposes if you didnt want to just consider playing vs the (insert new word) factor then its still a def bet.

as played v easy fold now imo.

just the std simple rule vs these opponents. top pair good kicker = bet bet bet, if they raise, fold.

We really can get 3 streets here from worse? I haven't played on .fr but think bet/check/bet usually better against these showdown value ranges than banging 3 streets. Helps to avoid spots like above too.

defooooo can get 3 streets here.

avoiding spots like this isnt an issue, u get c/raised so infrequently they just usually have it and u fold.

sometimes they have weird shit though

Doobs, any notes on this guy?

Am away from home again, but think he is one of the better regs and reasonably aggro.  His line looks weird to me.  Don't know.

Wonder who won that big sunday tournament?  Must take some skill.

Not sure how he's repping nothing. AA, KK, 66, 88, AK? All fit in nicely with an UTG raising range. You would expect a more passive line with 99-QQ. Without a specific read I would just play population tendencies here. And KQ is pretty dead in this spot a lot of the time.

Yeh but people rarely check the flop with any of those hands except 88 maybe. Still possible though ofc.

A while ago, somebody suggested here that when someone takes a really weird line if is frequently AA.  Seems as good a hand as any to assume here.

I scoped him and he is a big winner on site at a big average stake, and even without my notes, am reasonably sure he is more aggro than most.

One thing suggests we should call, another suggests we should fold.  I think a fold is probably right, so would go with that.

Not sure how we get population tendencies on something like this, it is anything but standard.

Without reads you have to play population tendencies. What else do you suggest by way of making your decision with very little to go on?

Doobs is saying alex that how do you have population tendencies on such a bizarre spot? As in ppl never really take this line with any hand.

In isolation we can take the turn c/raise to 1/3 of his stack and say "population tendencies say that this is really strong so we should fold" but add in that he didn't cbet Kxx with a flush draw and then does this, then it's much harder to get a population tendency read as ppl vrarely do this.
