£30 tourn at my local casino. Level 2 (50/100). We are 9 handed and table is... a bit fishy - some people playing lots of hands passively, but some tight players. My image is probably TAG but we had not been playing long.

I am in HJ with 7,700 stack

UTG limps, and so do next 2 players. I look down at   and raise to 800.

UTG calls, others fold, so pot is 1,950. UTG just has me covered but not by loads.

Flop is

He donks 2,600

What would you/should I do?

I didn't consider folding, he obviously could be ahead but I really couldn't see it - I would definitely expect him to check to me with all strong hands on this board as he knows I am betting, and also his overbet seemed determined to push me off. Maybe such thinking is bad?

My main question is, considering that he is almost certainly going to shove any turn, should I just call and let him do it (in effect giving him 2 cards to hit whatever he may be drawing to) or raise to shut him down now to take the pot, which hopefully I could use well against a weak field?

What would you do if you did just call and he set you in on turn?

Thanks

£30 donkament and you have TPTK (in effect on the flop as he doesn't limp AK surely)

Get them in son.

Pick up your chips, slide them across the felt and ask him how he likes them apples

In before I get slated.

However when players take an unusual a line like this, AND bet big when doing so.. I think you will see a better hand a lot!
Granted you will also see Xc somewhat, but since we have it.. It makes for A LOT less bluff combos.

Possibly just fold. Possibly... Live reads needed.

When he donks the 2,600 it's a push because he's now already put in half his stack so no need to play slow. If he folds it's a mistake and if he calls with worse it's a mistake.

Although in these comps and lines like this, players can be/tend to be nutted, your hand is way to strong.

I call flop, then call turn.

0% this is a bluff. Shove, don't wanna see lots of bad turns that'll make him c/fold a bunch of hands he calls the flop with.

Are we even calling the  ?

I just think in this spot we want to get the money in and if he has AJ/88 then fair enough. It actually could be us who hates a lot of turn cards

agree 100%. I don't think we are ever behind JB and its clearly a 50p moment if we are.
