This is not that a complicated hand and I just got unlucky here but thought Id post anyway - be gentle lol
8 seater £10 stt, 5 left,
I had played 2 hands all game in about an hour, the only 2 times was dealt picture cards - both times on my BB with K2 for a split pot and then a raise with A5 (i was getting bored folding everything lol) to which every one folded.
Blinds 200/400, I have 1200 chips left.
At last I get a hand in the big blind again
UTG +2 raises to 800, dealer calls, rest folded and I have 800 left so go all in
Original raiser calls as quick as he can, other caller folds.
He turns over
and says 'oh shit' as I flip over my AK lol
Flop is
giving him his pair and giving me a gutshot straight draw (gee thanks lol)
Turn
Flop
So he hits his 6 outer and I hit the rail. I was right to go all in over the top wasnt I? I was surprised he called with QT given that I had been playing so tight all game and at the time I thought it was a poor call but then again it didnt cost him that many more chips. Thinking about it later I thought maybe I should have waited a bit but then thought nah, it was best Id seen all night, getting shortstacked and was on my BB. As it happens next hand he called with AK and also got done by QT which was quite ironic.
If anyone has any thoughts even to confirm that I did nothing wrong then Id be grateful.
Cheers,
Rich

as you said no brainer, nothing you can do, however when he say your cards and said 'oh shit' i was surprised.
after you go over the top i would assume he figured you for a big Ace and would assume he would be happy that he isnt dominated and in fact has 2 live cards? so why the oh shit statement? surely he cant thin k he is ahead

Dave,
Thanks for the reply. Im not sure about his comment either as given that id hardly played a hand before, what did I think i would be going all in with ? lol I guess it was just a oh shit 'im well behind here...' and the fact that he still had outs probably didnt cross his mind as soon as he saw my cards....but then again who knows. lol
I watched some of the game after Id busted out. One guy tried to steal the blinds by going all in (for a few thousand) with with
and the guy who called me, called this all in with
!!! This time he was dominated but of course he hit another 6 to win the hand!
Cheers,
Rich

but in my opinion, as soon as he sees your cards he should be thinking "oh good, im actually better off then i should be, i have 2 live cards, as opposed to being donimated and having one live" this is why the oh shit statement was confusing.
who knows, bottom line is, if you go in with these hands everytime, youll win 64.75% of the time

It certainly is and I guess that I should hope that people continue to call me when they are behind like that as I will win in the long run

Another thing to bear in mind is that when you have
against
you will only win 65% of the time. To win two of these encounters in a row you'll be an underdog (41%) so this will happen to you all the time.
For this reason, when you go over the top with AK, you don't really want a call in a tournament. Rather take the blinds and the raise without having to run the gauntlet of flop, turn and river.
This doesn't really apply here, because you were always going to get a call, but most of the time you're rooting for your opponents to fold.
Perhaps his "oh S***" comment was because both his suits were dead. Maybe he was hoping to see you have a pocket pair of 9's or lower.

I can't beleive the other guy folded!
You have 1200, 400 of which is in the big blind.
One guy makes it to 800.
1 guy calls the 800.
You go all in for 400 more.
1 calls, 1 folds!
He puts 800 in and folds for 400 more?
Into a pot of 3200? Madness!
Anyway, maybe the mistake in the tournament was letting yourself get to a point where you only had 3 BBs left

Ok,
UTG+2 is the dealer 5 handed, so I'm assuming you mean the c/o raised and the button called.
In which case the pot by the time it comes to you is 600 in blinds + 1600 for the raise and call. so 2200 in the middle, you have 800 left.
You need the chips you have to move in.
You "know" at this point that you're going to have to beat both the other players as they "will" both call. (Ok, they didn't -- but hey - you should have been expecting him to).
The only wierd thing here is that the button didn't call - cos by the time it got back to him he'd have needed to call 400 more into a pot that is 3400 - or around 8.5:1
There's still nothing you can do about it - all the chips have to go in since your stack is currently 2M (not adjusting for short tables - so call it 1M) you should be thrilled that you get such a great hand when you need one.
Also you shouldn't have to pay any bad-beat fees as nobody can really consider a 60/40 type situation a bad beat ?

Thanks for all the comments guys - apologies if i confused things with regard to postiion and chip counts etc.
The point about the dealer not calling for a extra 400 is a good one and i hadnt picked up on this before lol.
And yes your are right way-too about the utg+2 and the cut off.
The guy who folded, i think it was his first time live (same for a couple of others at the table) so I guess he can be forgiven as it always a lot easier to press the all in buton than physically shove your chips in if you are not used to it.- the game is intended to be a nice comfortable way for people to get their first live experience where they aint gonna get any grief about poor play or betting out of turn by mistake etc - its where I started playing live- .
Anyway I'm starting to ramble so back to the hand lol. I did expect to be called by them both and yes it is the kind of hand you pray for when short stacked. Shame it didnt hold up and as u say 60/40 isnt really a bad beat but it is poker lol

People always say 60/40 when it's AK vs 2 other cards.
This pees me off it's 65/35. Nearer 2/1 than 3/2.
