I had a spot on cash the other week, I bet the river £150 with a straight, guy thinks the dealer has said £250 and throws £250 in, ruled as a raise to £300. I call and win, you give the guy back his £150?
Though its a pointless question as nobody that would keep the £150 would say so amongst all the people that post that they would give it him back. That's why threads like these are pointless imo.
I would keep my £150.
In fact I would prob raise.

If you call the £150 fully intending to give him his unintentional raise back and then he shows you a higher straight, that means at best you were giving him a freeroll and possibly worse, were falling into a trap.

If you actually bluffed the river and are now sure he folds if you bluff again are you just going to muck and give him the whole pot because he meant to call?

I think this is different.
As for OP, in a tournament, I don't think it's up to the player to decide what happens in this spot. Get a ruling.
In a cash game, I'm not convinced what I'd do. On on hand, I'm all up for generally doing the right thing. A guy made an honest mistake, and you have clearly seen the Ace, so giving a chop seems fair. On the other hand, you are playing a game where you win money by exploiting other people's mistakes. Granted this isn't a mistake you see often and you certainly don't play the game to expect to win money this way, but still it is a mistake. One of those my brain says take the money, but my heart says don't be a douche.

Thanks for the responses guys, possibly should have made a poll so people can respond without fear of being berated. This was an absolutely horrible situation. I was stuck £700, the pots been awarded to me, and I think the guy just mucked not realising it was a chop. Then when my mate, who is also shot taking to some degree, but is winning £1k points out it should be a chop.
I didn't really hesitate to chop, but I wasn't sure if I was being too nice there. I'm travelling, never likely to play with the guy again, and the floor would 100% rule in my favour. Plus I don't know if I could do it if it was a £5k pot and I had no idea if they guy would chop for me if I'd made that mistake. Felt like the right thing but out of everyone i asked in real life very few said chop.

Doing the right thing always comes first. That's why I flipped Peter a pink chip. That's what he was referring to when he mentioned 'my kindness' on the Incredible 100 thread. Somethings transcend the game. What comes round, comes round etc.

Obviously it's different if the cards have been mucked without you seeing them first

You'd have c/raised the turn and folded when he flatted showing the ace

I snap min raise this bluff. After everything you've admitted to we've been awarded a pot; Any floor would have a hard time ruling in favour of a chop, I have cards, he doesn't and his are irretrievable, even the dealer has gone to award the pot! He never even showed both cards. I'm pretty confident floor rule in my favour here if I kick up a fuss.
