Soooo... I was planning to put quite a lot of volume in online recently, however this becomes slightly difficult when you have no Internet connection for ~1 week so AGAIN I haven't really had too much to say, hence the gap in the updates. I have however played live a couple of times in the 'Mini Genting Series Festival' in Sheffield - reports of which are below:
Thursday - £75 freeze out:
So, even though this isn't the biggest buy in event, there was still a fair few players who weren't too bad who decided to flick this tournament in for some reason, coincidently - all of who decided to late reg around the same time as me which meant we all got sat on the same table (which was pretty jokes hard compared to the field with the likes of; Tom Jones, James, Steph...etc - for all of you who know the Handful of half decent players from Sheffield, along with a couple of other guys who are unknown to me but seemed like they knew what they were doing). Anyway, we decided to spin our 15k starting stack to around 50k on this table, the majority of which came from a weird hand between me and a guy who seemed half decent ( although he was drinking at the time). He opens to 900 @ 200/400/25 from the HJ, we peel

from the blinds and 3bet to 2300 (both playing 20k), he 4 bets to 4200, we call. Flop

we DONK, yes DONK for 3700, he flats. Turn

we check, he sticks his remaining 11k in the middle, we snap. He rolls over

and we fade the 4 outs on the river.
We then get moved to another table and completely run it over from the start. Spin the stack to about 70k @ 800/1600 then get pretty brutally coolered and slow rolled... Short stack goes all in for ~15k in the CO, SB calls after a slight dwell, we peel

and go all in for 55k effective.... SB tanks for well over a minute then says: 'I knew you were gonna end up knocking me out but I've got to call... I'm sat there thinking he has 1010...etc and he rolls over

... GG lol... Tbh I just laughed it off though (usually I'd be pretty annoyed but the guy genuinely looked nervous and a relative noob to the game so I just said nice hand and smiled.. After all its only a 75 f/o). Time for PLO.
Thursday night - £2/£2 PLO
Ill be the first person to admit that I'm not the greatest PLO player in the world - far, far from it in fact, however as I was exiting the casino after the £75fo I walked past what was quite possibly the best game I have ever seen. There was a couple of Asian gents who were very deep and were seemingly giving money away, and a couple of other weaker players from Sheffield who also were also deep. So I decided to stop off for a while (though it really sucked hard that I only had £100 on me at the time as I'd only brought enough for the 75 + re entry (bust after the re entry period had finished). Within the first few hands I was in the BB with

, limps round to me so we check, flop comes

and some guy decides he wants to get £100 in vs me with

... We fade all the remaining

to hold. I then picked a couple more small pots and that's when the game decided to get a bit silly, with the 2 Asian gents deciding to start straddling, and coaxing others into doing the same.... We got £64 straddles on a number of occasions ( at this point I was only £500 deep) and was the only person refusing to straddle as the game was playing HUGE. I decided to call it a night after a I had to b/f

on

(which may not be hard in normal games but vs this lineup who were playing £1k pots with one pair...etc was really annoying, but it was so obv he had it - which he did as went to showdown s a shorty and rolled over

for he nuts on the river. I then decided to leave as I was getting pretty tired. I'd made a few hundred and was happy enough at that, the game was pretty wild but was playing miles too big for my liking.
Friday £200 f/o (main event):
30k starting stack, 45 min levels - pretty decent structure to be honest. Had an OK starting table, where I dropped to 20k after losing a couple of pretty annoying pots. Then got moved to a pretty tough table in comparison to the field, with Ben Vinson ( I think ) a few other younger guys (unknown to me but seemed to have a clue) and Ken Billups. Ground the stack to around 45k then got it in

>

although he did flop a Queen on

, however we turned a

for some justice. Ended up grinding the 90k into 120k or so (with average@ 60k @ 600/1200) then the table gets chopped . Get moved to the absolute best table in the place bar none and run it over from the get go within an orbit I take

to the flop of

, I check, guy bets 8k, I raise to 17,200 (yes I know this usually isn't a spot for a raise however it just felt like this guy was going to blow up) which he did and stuck 70k in my eye. I snap he's pretty furious and slams

on the table for no pair, no draw and no back door draws. The turn and river come running

which was so brutal, I could only laugh. That was a 150k pot @ 600/1200 with the av being 60k - I get it in as a 99.54% favourite (according to poker calc so a 1/200 shot.. And DON'T win... Lol such jokes, so brutal). Blinds then move on and we pick up a few more small sized pots - but to be totally honest, had pretty much lost our mojo and was just treading water and trying to make day2 with a decent amount. Moving on, it folds to us on the Button at 800/1600, we open

to 3500, BB peels (I've just been told a story about how spewwy the BB is by a guy next to me as we'll for more fun). Flop comes

, he checks so I continue for 5100, he raises to 11k (playing 70k total) so I 3bet to 20k and he flats. Turn is

and he sticks his remaining 55k in the middle (into 40k) I call and he flips

so I'm now in Another 150k pot with 80% equity and he rivers the

... Marv. So we're now down to 70k. Pick up a few more medium size hands then get 3 streets from

on

and end the day on just shy of 100k with the average being 90k and returning on Sunday to blinds @ 1200/2400/200.
Hopefully ill learn how to hold when ahead by Sunday!
