...I'm still learning

Local Comp - about £1700 ftw,
18 left, 10 paid so we're a long way from the reasonable money
Average stack is around 90K

Blinds 2000-4000 r/a 500, 9 handed

I have 70K, open from UTG+1 to 10K with

Shortie shoves for 17K

BB (with 80K) flats 17K

I should..............

I think it's fairly basic but am interested in how you all play the same spot when you look down at  here

You really need to give some reads on the BB and the shorty. I can't see how anyone could give an answer without it

Your playing live so must be able to elaborate on if they are solid spewy/nitty/fishy whatever, what your recent history is with any of the players if any, your image at the table, their image, stage of the tourney etc etc

As the correct line really depends on so many factors it's almost impossible to give a decent answer

In this spots, sometimes its a snap fold. Others I would fist pump reshove, or a cuatious call. So much depends.....

Reads & image is important I agree

I was more interested in general views in a vacuum - ie just shove pre or raise. And, would anybody just flat here once the BB calls. Two very good players have already said, raise small, now flat, so I'm pretty happy with that input.

However, for the sake of pha

Shorty is tight but only has 4BB so any pair, any ace, any 2 broadway, possibly 89s, 910s type hands

BB is old school defender, could flat this with a wide range and would prob only raise with big premiums JJ+, possibly AK (it's only Ace high afterall).

I am seen as debonair, good looking, loose, aggresive (in this company) capable of outplaying them all on any street and generally the guy they'd like to be.

I am sure if your read had been provided that BB only raises JJ+Ak then I am not sure anyone would say just flat

Its a simple shove if this is the case and his likely never trapping as he raises JJ+/AK. we have 17bb the best hand pre and a ton of dead money out there

and yes min raise pre would be standard

haha love the last line.

General rule for reg casino that I have to remind myself is that I'm playing in 'The Land that Internet poker forgot' where people all learnt pre-Harrington and only some picked his book up!!!!  Can guarantee old skool defender is thinking 'I'm priced in!' and will even say 'I can't fold!' if you flat...and will most likely muck uber fast and mutter something if u shove.  Which will then be followed with 'I can believe yer shoving with that junk!!!'   Grin

This pretty much sums up how I'd see his flat in this spot. This does of course mean he can have some pretty good hands there but is also thinking you can never be too cautious
